Real Bank promotes "savings" advocacy in Cebu

CEBU, Philippines - Following it’s success in 2008, when it was first launched in Cebu, Real Bank returns to again promote the “Bata…Bata.. Mag-impok at Magsinop” program, which aims to inculcate to students the value of saving.

As it marks it sixth year of inception, Real Bank representative Anna Lisa Ochoa, recently visited Mandaue City Central School, where the program was first launched last July 2008.

The Manila-based bank partnered with the Department of Education and the Mary Lindbert Int’l to promote to children the value of thriftiness and letting students know the importance of practicing saving at an early age as well as taking care of tradition and heritage.

Here in Cebu, the program covers eight schools including Mabolo Elementary chool, Tejero Elementary School, Guadalupe Elementary School, Mactan Airbase Elementary School, Pajo elementary School, Lapu-Lapu City Central, Mandaue City Central and Pusok Elementary School.

Since the start of its launch, the bank has given out materials like books that are intentionally-made to help children realize the value of thriftiness.

The project has already gained various local and international awards from the start in 2004 like the Asian Banking Awards in 2005 wherein it was a runner-up for the marketing, PR and brand management category.

Also, the bank was awarded the 2005 Golden Citation Award for Best Family and Community Advocacy Program by the National Consumers’ Quality Awards and the 2006 Philippine Marketing Excellence Awards for the Most Outstanding Family Heritage Building Advocacy Program as well as the 23rd Year ender excellence and consumers’ choice awards for outstanding reading materials in thriftiness awards.

It also gained the 2008 National Quality Excellence awards for best comprehensive school program and the Anvil Awards year 44 of the public relations society of the Philippines award of excellence, Bronze Anvil Award.
