Fashion designer puts up style firm
CEBU, Philippines - Amidst experts’ call for artists and the creative sector to start a promising business out of their talents and become successful creative entrepreneurs, a new venture is born to professionalize the broad event-conceptualization industry in Cebu.
Fashion designer Dexter Alazas, together with other artist-partners established Stylism, a style firm that provides professional image building, as well as offer sustainable educational services for young generation to hone their different artistic talents especially in the glamorous world of modeling.
Alazas believes that in these times of difficulties, most companies and brand makers are pressured to stay in touch with the market, as well as stimulate buyers’ interest by developing a better style image of brand. This is where Stylisim comes in --- to provide companies a “stylist.”
“The market for this kind of service is growing. The more that companies are willing to spend for stylish events and out-of the-box concepts in order to snatch consumers’ attention, as the market has become very competitive,” Alazas said.
Through this new company, Alazas is working closely with a pool of Cebuano creative individuals, including graphic artists, singers, dancers, models, and the likes for big projects.
He said advertising strategies today has broaden into different kinds of activities that will awake the market’s interest and awareness of a brand or a company label. Summer season, for instance, gives companies opportunity to hold summer-related events such as unique and themed beach party, just to sustain market awareness.
This styling firm aims at grabbing the business opportunity surprisingly strengthened by crisis, as companies recognized the need to re-brand, re-style in order to survive.
Through his firm, Alazas envisioned to grow into a full-blown one-stop-shop creative service company that will not only offer event conceptualization strategies, re-branding, styling, among others, but also include the development of creative writing, harnessing modeling talents, among the young generation.
Starting this summer, Stylism through the Stylissimo School will kick off its first modelling, beauty pageant mentoring, and creative writing summer classes, to
develop talents among children in these areas, thereby producing next-generation artists, and even famous models.
Alazas’ expertise in fashion designing has paved his way to capitalize in this emerging industry that has not been fully maximized, despite the upswing demand.
And he’s probably heeding the call of Creative Cebu prime mover Jay P. Aldeguer who urged the Cebuano creative community to put premium on their creations to take advantage of the strong demand for creative skills.
Aldeguer made this call after realizing that a lot of artists in Cebu are charging very cheap professional fees to outsourcers such as companies, art buyers, among others.
According to Aldeguer there is a need for Cebuano artists, including singers, event organizers, content providers (writers), graphic artists, visual artists, and designers to adopt a paradigm shift in using their talents to rake wealth.
