State of the nation, sad state of roads
What is the real state of the nation? We might be asking this question as militant groups yesterday claimed that they were going to bare the true state of the nation in time for the State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Arroyo.
Since we are writing this minutes before the president was to give the SONA, we can’t say for sure whether what she said is really what we personally experience.
For us, what is important is that we do our share of being good citizens of this country by deed and not merely by saying we are good just like many of these so-called cause-oriented groups or even the government officials, who are only good in propaganda.
If you want to contribute to a better nation, start by following traffic rules, by not throwing trash anywhere, by making sure you are not contributing to noise pollution, or maybe by wisely using fuel and electricity. There are many little things we can do that would really lead to change and we don’t have to go out to the streets and create monstrous traffic jams as we call for the lowering of fuel prices.
By causing that traffic jam, you are only making the life of many poor Filipinos more miserable as their vehicles would have to use more fuel and that is not helping solve the problem, right?

We received another complaint about the condition of the road near the boundary of Consolacion and Liloan, which is in a very sad state. If the condition of this road were the state of our nation, then guys let us flee this country.
The road is so bad, but instead of finding ways to ease the troubles of the motorists and commuters, what the local government put up are signs washing their hands about the situation.
“So, who would the people turn to,” asked our reader.
The town officials of Consolacion cannot just turn a blind eye or sweep the dust under the rug in this situation.
We’re lucky we live in the south and not up north, but several times we also pass the place also to visit our family members who live in Liloan.
This is one proof that there is no real effort to help our people save fuel. If government would fix this road, this is a little help to ease the oil crisis and a smoother flow of traffic means a more efficient use of expensive fuel. Our government officials need not think to hard about that, right?
