Realizing the growing demand for its products and services, U-Bix Corporation opened yesterday its U-Bix Data Center in Cebu at its regional office along the Airport Road in Lapu-Lapu City.
The facility caters to the needs of companies for document imaging, scanning, storing and other activities.
The U-Bix Data Center, which was formerly the Kodak Imaging Center Philippines (KiC), was purchased by U-Bix from Kodak Philippines, Ltd. in August last year.
Lawyer Edilberto Bravo, U-Bix Chairman and CEO cut the ceremonial ribbon along with Efrain Pelaez, president of the Mactan Chamber of Commerce.
Bravo said that their customers are still based in Manila, but he is very confident that the opening of this data center, business in the Visayas and Mindanao area would also grow.
U-Bix Data Center currently serves mainly companies in the banking and finance sector aside from government offices like the National Statistics Office, the Land Registration Authority, Government Service Insurance System, and the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Eisen Balcueva, head of U-Bix Data Center said that the census project was their biggest as they converted 175 million documents into digital files within a period of three years.
The purchase of KiC by U-Bix did not only involve the transfer of physical assets but also the assumption of services.
Bravo said, “In buying the KiC operations of Kodak Philippines Ltd., we purchased not only its physical assets but we also retained the services of the key managers with a combined experience of more than 40 years. We will also continue to utilize its trained labor force of 300 workers.”
On the opening of the facility in Cebu, Bravo said that he has always recognized Cebu’s role in the country’s march to economic progress.
“Our expansion and entry into the imaging and scanning business will allow us the opportunity to chart a new vision for the company.
“As the leading provider of integrated office systems and services for 34 years, U-Bix is the first company in Cebu to offer clients the option of outsourcing their entire milieu, allowing us to handle their document management and essential mail printing requirements in less time, with better systems, and at a very cost-effective rate,” Bravo added.
