Dedon collections get red dot design award

Dedon was once again honored with one of the most renowned international design awards: the “red dot award: 2008 design award.” The expert jury of the high-caliber red dot award included the SPA Recliner XXL and the PHOENIX Lounge Chair from the current Dedon collections among the best, most innovative, and most valuable products of the year in the field of product design.

In competition between 3,203 products by manufacturers and designers from a total of 51 countries, Dedon was selected as one of the best in the international design industry.

In calmness lies strength – this is the basic existential principle that is embodied by the SPA Recliner XXL. Inspired by Zen philosophy, SPA designer Richard Frinier has created a modern and timeless design with an Asian flair that expresses a spiritual view of the world. The natural language of shapes in the slightly elevated and curved, highlighted seating areas invites people to hover above the earth, in an environment where they can reflect on their true self.

The lounge chair PHOENIX is the holistic realization of a piece of seating furniture.

To the designer Nicolas Thomkins, issues of ergonomics and functionality are equivalent with requirements of estheticism and fashion. The dynamic flow of curved contours and surfaces is an essential element of the collection’s formal expression, combining outstanding performance and perfect suitability for everyday use.
