PDA: Where entrepreneurship grows from the passion to help
The personality of an individual counts a lot especially when one needs to nurture or enhance it more to be able to grow, shine, and be discovered. Eliminating shyness, inferiority complex and providing exposures especially to youngsters who want to be more confident and better performers is a personal advocacy of a vibrant and young professional, Rudynah Entera, likewise known as “Ms. D”, who is an advocate of youth development.
Art Dynamics Cebu is a venue for kids to explore their talents replacing shyness with confidence. Art Dynamics Cebu, located at SM Board Room,
Ms. D started ADC with a capital investment of P10,000 including venue rentals, marketing collaterals, and miscellaneous expenses. And in November 2006, she came up with another confidence–building workshop that integrate sessions which ADC offers, Personality Development Avenue (PDA), which is open to kids ages 4 to young adults age 23.
The business is a sole proprietorship and right after the first summer workshop in 2006, return of investment was achieved.
The business targets middle youngsters and young adults who are interested to gain confidence in all aspects, and able to pay workshop fees ranging from P5,200 to P11,500 for a session of two months and a half. According to Ms. D, fees are inclusive of hand–on sessions, mall show exposures, pictorials, radio visits, even TV appearances and newspaper publicity privileges.
Just like other businesses, Ms. D envisioned it to grow big and expand even abroad and hope to put up Art Dynamics Foundation in the future, which will grant scholarships to talented youngsters who want to pursue communication or art–related courses.
The dilemma that the business deals with is the unavailability of venues for mall tours, technical flaws during the show proper, and sometimes conflict of schedules of PDA talents. In order to cope with these problems, Ms. D assures that the business won’t jeopardize academic schedules and performances of PDA talents and at the same time would not also let the problems affect the quality of the show.
“Make your passion your business and vice versa. It is always good to put up something that thickens not only to your pocket but your heart as well. Entrepreneurship is about helping others not just earning some big bucks. There’s more to life than just making money. It entails some persistence, dynamism, and positive attitude to sustain in business for long”, was Ms. D’s advice to would be entrepreneurs.
