While the sun is slightly kissing the edge of the porch and the cool breeze embraces the morning, it is best to commence the day with a hot cup of coffee; however, the tables have turned this time. Far much better with that routine is to spend the remaining time of your day and longest time of your evening chilling with your friends over a cup of coffee. That is why there’s KAFAYE Coffee ‘N Cream Resto.
Situated along the intersection of Barangay Mambaling and Punta, Labangon, this very cute and cozy coffee shop caters to you a variety of coffee, cakes and pastries and hot meals. It is basically a cool combination of a coffee shop and a restaurant.
Nonetheless, the story behind the birth of this business is far more steaming and exciting than the cup of coffee that they serve. KAFAYE is solely owned by the 26 year old businesswoman, Faye Sinco. This pleasant lady is a graduate of Interior Designing at the University of San Carlos. A not-so-related course indeed. Faye shared that long before, she has always wanted to study culinary but then, at that time there was still no culinary school here in Cebu and she was not even allowed to study in Manila at her very young age.
But then, the drive and passion for food and cooking was so great that after she graduated from Interior Designing, she immediately took a culinary course in Singapore which made her more competent to handle a food business.
After having a good background with food and culinary, she thought of establishing her own business and that gives birth to KAFAYE, a literal combination of coffee and her name.
According to Faye, starting KAFAYE is entirely a big risk that she has to hurdle considering the competition of coffee shops here in Cebu. But, what makes KAFAYE apart from other coffee shops?
From the name itself, it’s not just a coffee shop but it’s also a restaurant. KAFAYE offers various coffees from hot to cold. It also caters enticing and delicious pastries and cakes which Faye herself baked. And to sum up everything, and to give the place a touch of its Pinoy cuisine, KAFAYE also offers hot meals such as chicken and pork adobo which is very adoptable to us, Cebuanos. And whola! The prices are indeed reasonable. Your one hundred bucks can already satisfy you with a cup of coffee or cakes and pastries or a one hot full meal. It, on the whole, satisfies your food cravings.
For one month now, KAFAYE has been operating successfully. Faye is now planning to expand her business and open a new branch at the metropolis which would be more accessible to young and old “coffeeholics” in Cebu.
In every business, there’s always a secret formulae that is considered as the fulcrum of its success, and hers is – confidence.
“Be confident and take the risk..it’s a big risk I know..but I’m taking the risk so that if ever, I would have no regrets..” Faye believes that taking the risk would eventually be the first step to the realization of your dreams. She said that some people missed half of their lives because of fear of trying. She advised that one should not be scared to give every chance a try for as long as it’s bearable to every situation.
