Providing consumers with expanded alternative in software preferences, technology gadget reseller Thinking Tools, recently announced the availability the Asus Eee PC.
The Eee PC, the most affordable mobile notebook manufactured by Asus already has a bundled Linux OS and prompted by consumers’ demand, it also has a pre-installed Microsoft OS.
The Asus Eee PC is only half the size of the regular notebooks and weighs less than a kilogram. It has a 7-inch monitor size, with built-in memory of 4 gigabytes, camera, and WiFi (Wireless Fidelity) ready.
So far, this is the most affordable mobile notebook available in the market today, with suggested retail price (SRP) pegged at an average of P18,000 per unit.
According to Thinking Tools product manager Jackie Lou Pardillo, the company has decided to pre-install Microsoft OS to the Asus Eee PC, due to the growing demand from consumers to install Microsoft operating system programs, such as Windows XP, among others, aside from its built-in Linux OS.
With the additional Microsoft OS, consumers will have to pay additional license cost of about P1,800 for starter Windows XP program.
Paradilla noted that some consumers in Cebu, do not mind paying additional license fee for Microsoft OS, provided that they are going to fully make use of the mobile PC that will work compatibly with their other technology gadgets.
Starting this month Thinking Tools will pre-install Microsoft OS program to the Asus Eee PC to meet with the demand, she said.
The affordable mobile notebook was introduced in Cebu late last year. Pardilla said since November (2007), most consumers were asking for installation of Microsoft OS.
Pardillo said, this affordable mobile PC, is the one of the best selling products now, with its price that is as competitive as high-end cellular phones, or even cheaper than that of the new upscale cellular models.
