PCCI confers “Hall of Fame” recognition to Cebu Chamber

The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s proactive role in supporting the economic development of the province has bestowed upon the chamber the “hall of fame” recognition from the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (PCCI) as Most Outstanding Chamber in the Philippines.

CCCI officers led by its president Francis O. Monera received the award yesterday at the Manila Hotel, to conclude the three-day Philippine Business Conference, which started last October 24, 2007.

CCCI has won as Most Outstanding Chamber of the Philippines for three consecutive years putting the chamber to the “hall of fame” category, besting 110 other chambers nationwide.

The Most Outstanding Chamber Award is a project of PCCI which seeks to recognize local chambers whose leadership and dynamism contributed to business growth and development of the community through active involvement in advocacy, providing a suitable environment for the growth and expansion of commerce and industry.

The Hall of Fame distinction given to CCCI is a result of the organizations’ exemplary accomplishments and performance as a model business support organization in the country demonstrated by its leadership and dynamism as evidenced by actual accomplishments in the areas of implementation of an advocacy program, partnership with government, growth of membership base, sponsorship of local outreach and community development programs, trade and investment promotion in 1997.

CCCI was also given the distinction for its advocacy initiatives and wide menu of services and programs benefiting the business community and the society in general.

The Chamber also gained the distinction of being the first chamber in the country and the fourth in the world to be ISO certified (9001:2000) in the effort to provide better quality service responsive to its’ members need. In promoting CCCI’s strategic thrusts, ICT and Tourism, it co-hosted the 4th ASEAN Business and Investment which opened doors to global markets in the province.

Her Excellency President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo conferred the award to CCCI represented by Monera together with Board of Trustees Prudencio Gesta, Samson Tiu, Benjamin Avila, Michael Basubas, Ed Limtingco, Clarito Fruelda, Jose Ng and External Affairs Official Representative Felix Taguiam. —Ehda M.
