Demand for solo model motorcycle stays upbeat
Due to advertising exposure, worsening traffic in the metropolis, and the continuing increase in oil prices, the motorcycle industry is confident about the growing demand for motorcycles especially for the solo type models.
Kawasaki Motors Philippines’ Regional sales manager Enrique Dilig said consumers now prefer motorcycles for land transportation and proof of that would be the streets now being dominated by motorcycle riding travelers.
Dilig said the market now offers several types of motorcycles among which include the commonly used solo model also known as the underbone motorcycle and the business type motorcycles.
Based on statistics, Dilig said the solo model is more in demand garnering 5 to percent share of the entire national demand.
Dilig pointed out that the motorcycle industry these days is undergoing a positive growth and they see no inevitable hindrance to its continued growth.
“We have growing industry sales because the gasoline price continues to go up. This situation translates to a positive effect to our business,” Dilig said.
Dilig cited that the Motorcycle Development Program Participants Association (MDPPA) recorded that the sales for the motorcycle industry as of this year has continued to grow. There is a recorded 44, 000 regular monthly unit sales total for the entire industry and of which 80% has been taken by the solo model garnering to about 42, 000 units sold.
As of January to September this year, the entire motorcycle industry already disposed 426, 000 units.
