8th Motorshow kicks off today

-

Promising more car highlights and exhibition space than last year, the 8th Motorshow to be held at the Cebu International Convention Center is expected to gather car clubs, bikers, sports car enthusiast, cruisers, hobbyist and Cebuano spectators as it kicks off in a grand opening ceremony this afternoon.

Spearheaded by the Motorshow Philippines International, Inc. the event will showcase the latest car models, accessories and will also become a car selling avenue where prices is lowered than that of its usual market price.

“We are trying to make a statement that Cebu is a great venue to become a center or a hub for the automotive industries,” said Marisa Nallana from the Motorshow Philippines International, Inc. about the ultimate thrust of this year’s Motorshow.

About 2, 600 square meters of exhibition space will accommodate the cycle industry, and the auto industry from assemblers and dealers coming from across the country like Davao, Zamboanga, Ilo-ilo, Leyte and Bohol.

The event will also showcase miniature replica of cars, and even real cars of Cebu’s prominent personalities from various industries like Kenneth Cobonpue, Jay Aldeguer, the Aboitiz, and the Lhuillier, among others as exhibition center pieces.

Top car companies will also lead stakeholders in the car industry and this includes: Hyper Power Services, Toyota, Isuzu, Hyundai and KIA Motors.

The opening this afternoon will be graced by Department of Tourism Secretary Ace Durano along with Hon. Tony Cuenco from CADA and Governor Gwen Garcia.

Car dealers are expected to give industry updates, details of auto retailing, latest trends, and discuss about industry competition and industry growth.

Special prices will also be given for the “People’s Choice Award,” “Best Vintage,” and the ”Best Modified” cars which will be participated by different car clubs and car enthusiasts.

“The Motorshow has gone beyond from the usual exhibition, it’s going to be a great show to extend the concern of the industry,” Nallana added.

Nallana also discussed that Cebu’s market is quite different with that of Manila for reasons that issues and problems are not very much openly talked about. So at this point, as they deemed illegal importations as one major adversary, they are still convincing industry players from Cebu for a series of conferences that will disclose different issues concerning the industry.

Nallana also cleared out that all exhibitors and participants in the Motorshow are legitimate as players expressed this as one of their primary concerns.

As for its multiplier effect, Nallana pointed out that the 8th Motorshow will cover various areas of the economy as delegates from different car and bike clubs will be coming over to Cebu thus at the same time benefiting other industries like food and accommodation.  Rhia de Pablo
