Upbeat tourism sector benefits grill business

Along with the province’s recognition as a tourism destination, family-owned grill restaurants in Cebu, City Grill and City View, take in its share of the benefits as it gains foothold as among the most popular eating places in town.

With owners’ personal ministry of serving the pubic with good food at a good price, City Grill in Mango Avenue as well as its counter part City View located in Brgy. Busay strives to maintain its reputation for the past four years of doing competitive business in the city’s food district.

City Grill has started its operation last April 2003 whereas City View started June 2005. Recently, City Grill won as the number one “sutukil” (Sugba, Tula, Kilaw,) restaurant in Cebu City chosen by the National Shopper’s Choice Award held at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino last May.

Operations Manager and owner Menchu Ebo in an interview with The Freeman said that their business goal is to reach out and focus towards serving the needs of their costumers as their ministry to God aside from generating profit.

With culinary arts graduate and a chef to handle the operation, City View has slowly carved a niche in the food district with patrons mostly tourists who go out of their ways to dine in such a distinct location that overlooks the city.

As an advantage of being near Marco Polo Hotel, City View’s chef and Operations Manager Niño Ebo, son of Mrs. Ebo said that these days, their foreign customers have increased especially Koreans. “We often have high end customers. Even if its quite far here, tourists still go up to eat.”

City Grill offers Filipino styled dishes from sinugba, tinola, and kinilaw food selections whereas City View also offers Chinese cuisine to higher end consumers.

As a growing business, the Ebo family maintains their concern with customer security in their food business to be able to maintain their customer’s trust.  – Rhia de Pablo
