Globe expects global exposure via summit

- Ehda Dagooc -
The upcoming 4th ASEAN Business Investment Summit on December 7 to 10 (2006) will be utilized by telecommunication giant Globe Telecom, along with its subsidiary Innove Communications as one of the important tools to put its brand in the international map.

Globe Telecom and Innove Communications are the official telecommunications provider of the four-day event that will be attended by about 500 businessmen and government sectors delegates from 10 ASEAN member countries.

"We in Globe and Innove value excellence in every aspect of our business as we strive to stay competitive not only in the Philippine front but also in the global arena," said Innove Enterprise business group head Jesus C. Romero.

The Ayala-owned telecommunication company expressed its support to the ASEAN's corporate sector efforts to continuously pursue and find ways to further grow the regional market, Romero said.

Globe, with its traveler services such as international roaming, will be offering discounted rates on roaming services for those who will be visiting the Philippines from November 15 to December 31, 2006, boasting its membership of the Bridge Alliance, the biggest telco alliance in the Asia Pacific.

Innove on the other hand, will provide wireless broadband Internet access through its GlobeQuest Wiz or Wireless Internet Zone service during the event.

Wiz provides instant Internet connection at speeds of up to 1.5 mbps. Also, delegates using Boingo, iPass/GoRemote and T-Systems, which are GlobeQuest's international hotspots roaming partners, can use their home username and password to connect to the internet at Wiz Hotspots.

GlobeQuest's Wiz hotel partners for the ASEAN-BIS include Shangri-La's Mactan Island Resort and Spa, Waterfront Hotel Lahug and Waterfront Hotel Mactan, CEbu Midtown Hotel, and Cebu White Sands Resort. WiZ is also available in the Mactan Cebu International Airport.

Key ASEAN government officials, top executives of global and Asian enterprises, leaders of international organizations and heads of state will gather in Cebu City next month as the Philippines, particularly Cebu hosts the ASEAN-BIS 2006.

The ASEAN-BIS brings together corporate leaders and other key stakeholders in the region, providing them with invaluable insight into the implications of ASEAN integration for the strategies of the regional and global business and investment communities.

The business and investment Summit also presents a venue where enterprises engage heads of state on today's issues that are of importance to the corporate world.
