Realizing the unique creativity of Filipinos, Cartoon Network is currently seeking for original content developers to take part in this world's famous kid's entertainment network.
In a statement furnished to The Freeman, Cartoon Network has announced the launch of pan-Asian initiative titled Snaptoons or Short New Asia Pacific Cartoons, which aims to connect Cartoon Network with new creative talent across its key markets in Asia.
The company has specifically taken an active search in the Philippines, to strengthen its commitment to nurture homegrown creative talent to a new level.
"The network is looking to invest in funding, backing and developing a new, original and groundbreaking idea that lends itself well to animation, and is targeted to kids and either has a universal or regional appeal," stated the company's statement.
Cartoon Network is a cable TV channel created by Turner Broadcasting and dedicated to showing cartoons.
As part of the program, Cartoon Network is encouraging Filipino poets, artists, amateurs, professionals, students, individual animators, animation studios, to grab this opportunity in being part of the company's world wide exposure, becoming the next big sensation like The Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Laboratory, Johnny Bravo, among others.
According to the company, out of the total pitches received, ten will be green-lit and each will be developed into full pilot episodes. The commissioned ten will then have their world premier exclusively on Cartoon Network across the Asia Pacific feeds.
The Philippines is fast emerging as an important destination for outsourcing assignments from global animation studios like Walt Disney Picture, Hanna Barbera, Dreamworks and Cartoon Network.
Some famous cartoons and animations made by Filipinos for foreign firms are Scooby Doo, Tom and Jerry, Adam's Family, The Jetsons, Dragon Ball Z, and Captain Planet.
