5th MICT Congress to boost Cagayan's ICT biz potential

Cagayan de Oro City City Mayor Vicente Y. Emano expressed optimism that the holding of the 5th Mindanao Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Congress here would further enhance the city's position as a leading e-services hub in the country.
This, as Emano encouraged ICT players from all over the country and abroad to take part in the biggest three-day event. The ICT Congress will start on Sept. 20 to 22, this year.
Emano, said that the holding of the 5th MICT Congress in Cagayan de Oro signals the city's preparedness and receptiveness as a premiere ICT investment destination in the country.
President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo expressed her full support to the holding of the ICT congress that she even issued Memorandum Circular No.113, authorizing all information and communication technology (ICT) professionals in government offices to attend on official time the 5th Mindanao Information & Communications Technology Congress that will be held at the Atrium of the Limketkai Mall.
Ruben Vegafria, president of the Cagayan de Oro Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation, Inc. (Oro Chamber) and congress host, disclosed that President Arroyo's support has encouraged the organizers to really work hard to ensure the success of the activity.
Vegafria thanked Presidential Assistant for Northern Mindanao Hon. Jojo Pupos who was instrumental in presenting the ICT Congress to President Arroyo.
The presidential memorandum is seen to boost participation of key ICT players in the 5th MICT Congress, which will feature an exhibition, job fair and other related events.
Emano, cited that Cagayan de Oro's investor-friendly policies, stable peace and order condition, well-placed infrastructure facilities and amenities, fair weather condition and affordable cost of living as among the reasons for the continuing influx of domestic and foreign investors in the city.
Mayor Emano also recognized the rock-solid relationship between the city government and the local business community, which greatly helped in making Cagayan de Oro as the fastest booming economy in the country today.
The city government assured participants of the 5th MICT Congress that the city government will do its best to help make the event a truly meaningful and productive experience for them.
