Ruiz Derma Inc. is poised to position itself as one of Cebu's largest Medical Spa operators, as it spent significant amount to make its SM outlet a full-blown MediSpa center.
Beauty specialist Danna Ruiz-Sesante said the company's newly MediSpa center at SM City Cebu offers internationally at par services.
"We have recognized the growing need for legitimate MediSpa center in Cebu," Sesante said adding that as one of the pioneer players in the MediSpa service in Cebu, Ruiz Derma has now taken advantage of the growing demand.
She said it's not only the visiting tourists, or the foreigners visiting Cebu that are target for Ruiz Derma's MediSpa service, but also a growing number of Filipinos have started to recognize the importance of the service. Its Ayala Center outlet will soon be renovated and be structured as a complete MediSpa center, that would accept cosmetic surgery bookings, and other services that need professional consultation.
Ruiz Derma's surgical operations, however, are done at its main outlet in Mambaling.
Although the spa industry in Cebu has mushroomed in the last two to three years now, Sesante said the MediSpa segment has yet to be developed, because it needs legitimate players like registered beauty aestheticians and physicians.
Last year Ruiz Derma invested some P2 million to uplift its service standard and complement Cebu's bid to attract medical tourism, especially in the wellness sector.
Ruiz Derma, which is one of the pioneering companies in Cebu to offer professionalized derma treatments, and introduced the one-stop-shop center for wellness or MediSpa, is now stressing its niche as one of the few wellness centers that is operated by physicians, a mother and daughter tandem.
Sesante, is assisting her mother, Fe Mantua-Ruiz, in attending personally to customers in their four outlets.
Ruiz said there is a need for Cebu to ensure the professionalize services of wellness centers in order to take off as a wellness and Spa hub in Southern Philippines, and attract the multi-million dollar "medical tourism" market abroad.
Aside from competition, with the mushrooming number of spa and wellness centers opening in Cebu, Ruiz recognized the need for her company to invest in technology and be at par with the world standard.
Last year, Ruiz Derma introduced new technology the Microdermabrasion and Dermalift - both guarantee no side effects. She said it gives skin an overall fresh, healthy looking glow. It is a non-surgical, safe, effective procedure, effective on all skin colors and types; no anesthetic required, excellent for skin sensitive to chemical procedures.
"These treatments are sometimes conducted by inadequately trained practitioners, so it's especially important that you find a doctor who is trained practitioners and experienced in the procedure. After all, microdermabrasion and dermalift usually involve the most visible part of the body-the face," Ruiz said.
