CEBU, Philippines — Six teams will battle it out for hardcourt supremacy in the Khalifa Cup:National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) Cebu Local Qualifying Tournament slated on December 14-15 at the Recoletos Coliseum of the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Basak Campus.

NBTC Cebu LQT Commissioner Atty. Francis Tolibas said among the contenders of the two-day tilt are the USJ-R Baby Jaguars, University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Baby Panthers, and University of San Carlos (USC) Baby Warriors from the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI).

They will go up against the Abellana National School (ANS) Chiefs, San Roque College de Cebu Hounds,  and Don Celestino Martinez Sr. Taytayan Integrated School of Bogo City.

Tolibas said the top two finishers of the LQT will each receive P150,000 subsidy as they compete in the NBTC Visayas Regional Championship 2025 on February 12-16 at the Bacolod Tay Tung High School gym in Bacolod City.

Team Khalifa, the reigning NBTC Cebu and Visayas regional champion, has been invited to participate at the Regionals in the City of Smiles two months from now.

Just like in the past years, the regional titleholders from Visayas, Mindanao, and North and South Luzon will advance to the NBTC National Finals at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City in March 2025 where they will go up against a select group of ballers from the Global Talent ID, wildcard qualifiers, and top teams from the UAAP and NCAA.

Duly recognized by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP), NBTC is grassroots program whose main vision is to develop skills, build character, and raise leaders in young cagers ages 16 to 19 years old.
