Rizal spikers sustain streak

MANILA, Philippines — Streaking Rizal-St. Gerrard Charity Foundation Inc. firmed up its hold of second spot while AM Caloocan Air Force knocked on the Final Four door in the MPVA Season 1 Thursday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

Vanessa Yvonne Martin had 10 points as Rizal swept ICC Negros, 25-17, 25-14, 28-26, to claim its fourth straight win and the No. 2 seed at 10-3, behind the pace-setting Quezon Tangerines (10-1).

Meanwhile, grizzled spiker Aiko Urdas fired 14 points on 14 hits as AM Caloocan Air Force drubbed Valenzuela Classy, 25-15, 22-25, 25-17, 25-19, for a 5-5 slate.

Caloocan zeroed in on fourth place, currently held by Biñan Tatak Gel (6-5). Only the top four teams will advance in the next round of the nine-team MPVA founded by former senator and MPBL chairman Manny Pacquiao.
