CAMPUS NCAMPUS NEWS: NYC names Sine Kabataan short film competition finalists
MANILA, Philippines - Out of a total of 185 entries, the National Youth Commission has released the 12 finalists for the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino - Sine Kabataan Short Film Competition.
The short films depicted issues on health, education, security and peace building and family values. Finalists’ entries will be shown in theaters nationwide from Aug. 16 to 22, 2017.
Student rates for Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino are at P150 for Metro Manila and P100 for provincial patrons.
ALS K-12 launched
The Alternative Learning System (ALS) on K-12 Basic Education Curriculum was launched last week. The launch was led by ASec. G.H Lambat and Bureau of Curriculu m Development Director Jocelyn Andaya. The new ALS K-12 curriculum ensures more out-of-school-youth and adults to a better quality education for both formal and informal education systems. It also guarantees the four exits of education: employment, entrepreneurship, higher education, or middle-level skills development for all students enrolled in ALS.
DLSU calls for help for Olympian Yan Lariba
La Sallian and Philippine Olympian Ian Lariba was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia earlier this year and the De La Salle community is extending help to their fellow La Sallian through donations from outside the community to support Ian Lariba’s medical expenses for her bone marrow transplant estimated to cost between P1.6 to P3 million. Ian Lariba was a table tennis player for DLSU Lady Paddlers for UAAP seasons 74 through 78 and was awarded multiple times along the way including Rookie of the Year, Most Valuable Player and Athlete of the Year.
