Globe + Spica = Out of this world

MANILA, Philippines - When Samsung launches an android cellphone called Galaxy Spica it partners with Globe Telecom to create a communication experience that covers the globe.

Samsung has upgraded its Galaxy Spica, also known by its robotic name Samsung I5700 smartphone. The cellphone is equipped to use the power of the latest version of Android, Android 2.1.

It was a star-filled experience I had when I loaded the Globe SuperSurf SIM card.

I set up the Samsung Galaxy and loaded it with all the fave songs and fotos that any cellphone I use must have.

I like to call this setting up of my cellphone my way of “owning” each mobile I get my hands on. Folks like me love gadgets, and cellphones are among the gadgets that have made their presence in my life — something that I can’t live without.

Here at the office I am often teased that I have closer ties with my gadgets than I do with the people I encounter on a daily basis.

I don’t know but there are days when it is much easier to understand with my gadgets than it is to understand with the people I work with.

Load it up

I loaded my prepaid SuperSurf SIM card which gave me unlimited access to the Internet through the quick connections it made on the Samsung Spica.

Facebook, Twitter and then my e-mail accounts set up, I was ready to take the Globe-connected Spica on a test run.

Since I like to check on my Twitter as often as I can, I enjoyed the Globe SuperSurf one-day unlimited mobile Internet which cost me P50.

One day was not enough since the connection with Globe was so good. I opted to go with the five-day unlimited mobile Internet for P220. A decision I did not regret.

I have often said that it is better to download fotos which people take on their Twitpics when I get to a desktop computer.

But with the Globe SuperSurf unlimited, that was not the case. I got to download all the funny, interesting and even absurd fotos on Twitpic and still had more load to check on my e-mail and update my status on Facebook.

Neat.

Easy does it

I had so much fun with the Samsung Galaxy Spica because personalizing it was such a joy. The Galaxy Spica offers nine side-scrolling screens. This means that I was able to personalize the Spica with so many of my cute photos.

It was fun just to let my crazy side take over as I decorated the Spica with everything that I could imagine. 

The Galaxy Spica also features Samsung widgets, Visual bookmark and PC Sync support to enable users to synchronize their devices quickly.

The feel of the Spica on the hand is quite sturdy. The phone has a D-Pad and the button in the center features nice red framing that complements the overall appearance. The button that gets you to the home screen has its own symbol.

I guess, what I really enjoyed about the Samsung Spica is that it was one easy cellphone to learn to use.

There was no need to get into the boring manual to set it up. All I really had to do was charge it, turn it on and load and go.

And, in this day and age - getting things done in a jiffy is what it’s really all about.

Back to Globe

I stayed Globe-connected with the Super Surf and I did not miss a tweet. And in this period of political excitement in the country not missing a tweet kept me updated all the time.

I did some surfing on the Net with the Globe’s SuperSurf. Of course, the connection was seamless and the info I got on the fly was just great.

The really good thing was that all I needed to do to keep my SuperSurf active was to maintain a minimum balance of P5.

Staying Globe-connected all the time and seamlessly is a joy that any gadget-lover would die to experience.
