Sun Cellular supports UN anti-poverty drive

-

In support of the United Nations’ worldwide anti-poverty campaign, Sun Cellular has partnered with the UN’s Millennium Campaign in spreading the word about its “Stand Up, Take Action,” event this year.

The advocacy was aimed at expressing support for marginalized communities by helping fight poverty.

Sun Cellular took part in the three-day event by generating awareness about it by sending its subscribers text messages encouraging them to take part in it.

Part of the observation of the National Week for Overcoming Extreme Poverty, the “Stand Up, Take Action” campaign” was highlighted by a fun run where 75 percent of the registration fees went to the World Vision Foundation and other NGOs that promote maternal health and children’s education.

The “Stand Up, Take Action” event was also an innovative challenge to set another official Guinness world record in mobilizing people around the world to literally stand up and take action against poverty.
