3 new Sony Ericsson Walkmans out this summer

Take your music with you this summer as Sony Ericsson unveils three new Walkman handsets that speak volumes on style and sound.

The Sony Ericsson W350i Walkman is the first to incorporate a flip phone factor with the Walkman on Top design, putting music at the user’s fingertips.

The W380i is a clamshell with a never-seen before feature called Gesture Control, letting users mute a call with a wave of the hand.

The W890i boasts a super slim and silver design with a 2GB music storage capacity.

“With these latest phones, we address the needs of a broader audience who want a stylish yet compact phone with the W350i: the young, fashion-conscious music lovers as well as music connoisseurs who demand the latest Walkman features and fast downloads offered by the W890i,” said Patrick Larraga, Sony Ericsson marketing manager.

“These Walkman phones combine Sony Ericsson’s undeniable expertise in mobile communications and mobile music to stunning effect,” he added.

In the city or on the beach, the 10-mm slim W350i fits easily in the bag or pocket. Just open or close the flip to answer a call, and control all the key Walkman features — play, pause, scroll, right from the clear keys in front.

The W350i presents a credible standalone music player experience. It also comes in cool color combos like electric black with orange accents, hypnotic black with purple accents, and a cool ice blue and graphic white.

The W350i also has an FM radio and Track ID, a music function that lets you record a snippet of the song, sends it to a global music database and comes back with the song’s title, artist and album.

The W380i is the first Walkman model to offer Gesture control. Mute calls or snooze the alarm with a wave of the phone. The external display comes to life only when you need it — to show the name of a music track or to let you know who is calling.

Instead of just caller IDs, you can also use music for different callers, making different light effects dance to the music’s beat.

The W380i also has music controls on the surface so you won’t need to open this clamshell. Skip forward or backward between tracks or pause the music effortlessly. One-touch buttons on the top of the phone light up when the Walkman player is switched on and a hidden display comes to life, providing track information at a glance.

The stylishly slim W890i packs HSDPA download speeds, a 3.2-megapixel camera and music storage of up to 1,800 songs.

The phone uses the latest Walkman Player 3.0, and features SensMe, letting you select music to match your mood. This function lets you plot your playlist based on the song’s tempo and style.

Music tracks can be organized by artist, album or visually using album art, the album’s front cover artwork. You can also listen to the FM Radio, surf the Web, e-mail, post photos instantly to your blog or online gallery.

Purchase these and other Sony Ericsson Walkman phones until May 31 and get a chance to go to Sony Ericsson Music Tripping in Boracay, the longest beach party series this summer.
