Nokia & Natori: When tech meets fashion
Fashion is an artwork that has been elevated throughout the years with the distinct signatures of top designers from all over. Josie Natori is no exception. Known for her elegant and timeless pieces, her sense of style is indeed a class on its own. She fuses the beauty of style and function in every creation she comes up with, resulting in a fashion lover’s dream.
This distinct fusion of style and function is shared with Nokia, having recently introduced its luxurious new gem, the Nokia 8800 Sapphire Arte — where technology meets elegance, all in the name of art.
Fashion and technology are to be fused as Nokia co-presented The Art of Natori, a gala dinner and benefit show recently at the Makati Shangri-La.
As a special collaboration, Nokia invited Natori to design the elegant pouch for the Nokia 8800 Sapphire Arte, which ladies of high esteem can use as a fitting accessory.
“Nokia believes in the talent and integrity of the global Filipino — exemplified by Josie Natori and we are honored to be part of this cause-oriented event,” said William Hamilton-Whyte, general manager of Nokia Phils.
The Art of Natori is composed of many “icons.” One of the most important Natori icons is the dragon. For the black satin phone pouch, Natori chose to embroider the dragon in a circular motif. The symbolic meaning of the dragon, which represents “strength,” is made even stronger when put into the circular motif — “the eternal circle.”
By choosing the dragon icon, Natori combines the “strength” of two great brands in a Natori/Nokia collaboration. The phone pouch is that perfect little gift or indulgence — it just makes one feel good to have as well as its practical nature — the best possible place to keep one’s phone.
Natori’s work reflects her sublime appreciation for what is beautiful, elegant and priceless — executed in highest standards. “Natori” after all, is a Japanese word for highest form of art.
The Nokia 8800 Sapphire Arte captures the essence of timeless beauty and fine craftsmanship. Its materials are of the finest quality, which include exquisite leather and precious stones.
The Nokia 8800 Sapphire Arte contains both. The select key, for example, is made from sapphire, which intrigues with its strong heritage and coveted appeal.
Panels are crafted from premium leather sourced in eastern
Color-wise, luxurious brown and coffee tones remind one of understated elegance. These are considered a confident and sophisticated color choice for premium products across a growing range of lifestyle items, from classic car interiors to high-end electronics.
Arte translates as art. In creating the Nokia 8800 Sapphire Arte, Nokia celebrates the art of individuality by way of natural light and the intricate ways in which it reflects, flickers and glows. This can be seen in the unique tap-for-time feature. Just two gentle taps are all it takes to illuminate the clock screen, while living wallpapers move organically throughout the day to give unique on-screen decoration.
Sound also plays an important part of the experience. The phone includes an exclusive soundtrack of graphic grooves from master producers Kruder & Dorfmeister with visuals by Fritz Fitzke.
In addition to the 3G capabilities and 3.2-megapixel auto focus camera, the Nokia 8800 Sapphire Arte boasts a stunning OLED display and 1GB built-in memory space. A unique silencing mechanism is activated when the phone is turned over, screen-side down.
Meanwhile, Nokia’s new anti-fingerprint coating reduces smudges on metal and glass and unsightly outer seams are hidden, thanks to a unique all-in-one microUSB connector.
To complete the look, Nokia has designed an exclusive range of accessories. These include a touch-sensitive volume control earpiece, a stylish desk stand and a beautiful leather carrying case complete with linen interior.
The Nokia 8800 Sapphire Arte shares Natori’s exquisite passion for art and eye for detail as it embraces luxury in craftsmanship.
