The BlackBerry Pearl combines the industry-leading user experience that BlackBerry customers worldwide value with new handset features that include a digital camera, multimedia capabilities and an expandable memory slot.
"We are pleased to expand our portfolio of BlackBerry handsets with the innovative and sleek BlackBerry Pearl. We are always on the lookout for the best tools that will enable corporate and individual customers to remain connected and gain a competitive advantage," Enterprise Business Group head Jesus Romero said.
"We are pleased to expand our relationship with Globe to bring the BlackBerry Pearl to mobile customers in the Philippines," said Norm Lo, RIM vice president for the Asia-Pacific.
"The BlackBerry Pearl is a breakthrough phone that combines the power of the BlackBerry platform together with new multimedia features, making it a great choice for both work and leisure," Lo added.
The BlackBerry Pearl, which measures just 4.2" x 1.97" x .57" and weighs only 3.1 ounces, is a quad-band GSM/GPRS and EDGE-enabled mobile handset.
It comes with a QWERTY keyboard for quick and easy typing and dialing, supports polyphonic, mp3 and MIDI ringtones, and has a large, ultra-bright, high-resolution (240 x 260) display.
The BlackBerry Pearl includes a responsive trackball that makes vertical and lateral scrolling fast and easy. Dedicated "menu" and "escape" keys on either side of the trackball, along with context sensitive menus, make navigation instinctive, smooth, and true to the famous user experience of the BlackBerry solution.
The BlackBerry Pearl features a media player and stereo headset jack so users can enjoy their favorite music and videos on the go. It features 64MB flash memory built-in and supports expandable memory with a microSD card slot to allow storage of music, pictures and videos.
It also comes with a 1.3-megapixel camera with built-in flash and 5x digital zoom so users can take pictures and instantly share these with family and friends via e-mail, MMS or BlackBerry Messenger. (For more information about the new BlackBerry Pearl, log on to www.blackberrypearl.com.)
