Nokia unveils new Nseries devices

Reinforcing its thrusts on mobile Internet, Nokia unveiled in a lavish press launch in Hong Kong last week its newest range of Nokia Nseries multimedia computers and experiences.

With the pioneering N70, N90 and N91 Nseries devices launched early this year, Nokia has become synonymous with high-performance multimedia experiences.

The new Nseries line should further establish Nokia as the leader in mobile multimedia with its high-quality video/photo capture and imaging capabilities (thanks to 3.2-megapixel cameras with Carl Zeiss lenses and Adobe software), superb audio performance, high-speed Internet browsing and much more.

"We launched Nokia Nseries last year to address the fast-growing market and we have already sold approximately five million Nseries multimedia computers," said Juha Putkiranta, Nokia’s SVP for multimedia.

"Clearly, people want to have a device that gives them access to all digital content, all the time, wherever they are and at reasonable cost," he added.

The Nokia Nseries range is an iconic example of the fastest growing product category in the mobile phone segment: converged devices.

Nokia expects that the converged device market will grow to 100 million units in 2006 and exceed 250 million units in 2008.

According to Canalys research, the converged device market reached 53 million units in 2005 with Nokia commanding more than 50 percent market share.

"Nokia Nseries brings mobility to those experiences which used to be linked to a place or a single-purpose device. When you have a Nokia Nseries device that is always with you and connected, you no longer need to sit in front of your TV to watch your favorite program or take along a separate digital camera when you go on vacation," said Putkiranta.

"Our goal is to make it easy for people to have their favorite experiences – whether it’s sharing video, browsing the Internet or buying new music – with them all the time," he said.

Nokia also announced continued cooperation with Carl Zeiss and Adobe, as well as with Flickr, a Yahoo! company.

"The Internet is evolving toward communities of people actively creating and sharing their thoughts and experiences. Working with companies like Carl Zeiss, Adobe, Flickr and others means that Nokia Nseries customers not only get the best in technology, but also the best in usability," said Putkiranta.

"It’s very easy to record and edit video so you can tell the story you want and then share the finished video with whoever you want. With Nokia Nseries, we enable people to create and share their experiences, in the way they want," he added.

The Nokia N93 is the ultimate mobile device for spontaneous video recording. With uncompromised digital camcorder, telephony and rich Internet communications functionality, it features a 3.2-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, DVD-like video capture at 30 frames per second, and 3x optical zoom with video stabilization.

You can see your memories come to life on the high-definition display, or connect the Nokia N93 directly to your TV for a wide-screen movie experience.

Moreover, you can create high-quality home movies and burn them to DVD with Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0 software included in the package. For still photo editing, the N93 also comes with Adobe Photoshop Album SE 3.0.

"The Nokia N93 marks a new era in the digital camcorder market," said Steve Lewis, director for multimedia computers of Nokia Asia-Pacific.

"Incorporating all the features you need for great quality movie-making, the Nokia N93 is a fantastic example of a multimedia computer with true digital camcorder performance at its core. Thanks to its connectivity, it allows you to immediately share the memories you’ve captured, taking the entire camcorder experience to the Internet age," Lewis said.

The Nokia N73, on the other hand, is a stunning multimedia computer with powerful photography features and integrated stereo speakers with 3D sound.

In addition to providing the standard range of Nokia Nseries multimedia experiences, the Nokia N73 also includes a 3.2-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens, a separate VGA camera for video calling, auto-focus and support for uploading your photos to the Flickr.com photo community, thus creating a package ready to challenge any digital camera.

"Being able to intuitively capture, edit, and share your digital memories is at the core of the Nokia N73, which also offers the enriched multimedia experiences of the Nokia Nseries range. The joy of using the N73 extends beyond the actual device, by fusing people to their passions and with others who share them," said Lewis.

The Nokia N72, which is not expected to be marketed in the Philippines, has high-performance multimedia at its core, wrapped in a beautiful pearl pink or gloss black package.

The Nokia N72 offers the benefits of versatile photography, entertainment and personal productivity to people who value style as much as technology.

Powerful yet stylish, the Nokia N72 is equipped with a two-megapixel camera and integrated digital music player, with dedicated capture and music keys as well as an FM radio and support for Visual Radio.

The Nokia N93 and Nokia N73, which are based on S60 3rd Edition software on Symbian OS, are expected to be available in the third quarter.
