KUALA LUMPUR Two innovative brands managed by two leading Malaysian corporations have partnered for a new product offering that stands to be recognized as a revolutionary marketing strategy.
Celcom (Malaysia) Berhad, together with AirAsia, has set new standards and precedence through the launch of a new offering called the "AirAsia-Celcom Prepaid Starter Pack."
Dato Shazalli Ramly, chief executive officer of Celcom (Malaysia) Berhad, said this co-branding initiative brings together two strong brands that have made global inroads through affordable mobile telecommunications and affordable air travel.
"We are thrilled to partner with Asias premier low fare airline to offer an affordable means of telecommunication targeted at the traveling community. With over 16 million passengers carried to date, and a growing list of over 64 destinations flown domestically and regionally, Celcoms strategic partnership with AirAsia is able to tap into AirAsias mass market of travelers to effectively widen our distribution channels and enhance our brand presence," Ramly said.
"It is a product that would definitely whet the appetite of our customers. With many exciting features contained in the AirAsia-Celcom prepaid starter pack, it stands to further boost Celcoms brand and market positioning in the ever-expanding and ever-competitive Malaysian mobile telecommunications industry," Ramly added.
Priced at an astonishingly low-entry level of just RM4.99, the AirAsia-Celcom prepaid starter pack is to date the most attractive retail price for a starter pack in the local mobile telecoms industry.
For a four-month period until June, customers stand to enjoy the benefits of only five cents per minute calls and one cent per SMS to two registered 013 or 019 Celcom numbers in Malaysia. Alternatively, they can substitute the local 013 or 019 with one IDD number to one of the 10 selected countries to enjoy the most competitive IDD rates for calls made to these countries from Malaysia.
"Among the countries where our customers will enjoy the special IDD rates are Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, China, Indonesia, Macau, the Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia and Myanmar," Ramly said.
"Celcoms collaboration with AirAsia is a win-win partnership for both parties. For Celcom, even more Malaysians will be able to enjoy the convenience of mobile telecoms at really affordable rates," he added.
