Combining an evident need and increasing demand for multimedia capabilities, O2 has designed a device enhanced and revamped from the previously released Xphone II.
Providing functions and features from the existing Xphone II and integrating a more advanced bundle of multimedia capabilities, the Xphone IIm is causing ripples in the smartphone class of mobile communication devices. Incorporating mobile office and messaging with a multimedia resource, O2 Xphone IIm is an extension of the office, entertainment lounge and hub, allowing users to stay connected.
The general idea is to create efficiency through advanced features and capabilities and packaging it into a compact and sleek design for the modern mobile user. The Xphone IIm combines a phone, PDA and MP3 player in one device.
The Xphone IIm also caters to the more experienced and "serious" users who put an emphasis on business. A sleek jet-black finish, together with an effortless key layout design, accentuates the strong-featured device.
While the Xphone II is sophisticated and firm, the Xphone IIm is fun and adaptable, and targeted at young, hip and dynamic users with multimedia needs. Dressed in a clean and modern ceramic white finish with round corners and sleek gray lines, it achieves a look that is clean and modern.
The Xphone IIm has specialized media keys that bring the user directly to specified media functions such as Windows Media Player 10 and Internet Explorer. Customization can be achieved by setting favorite sites, music and video content to be accessed instantly through the multimedia hot keys.
Content can be stored on the Xphone IIms 64 MB on-board memory or on the miniSD card expansion memory. File support on both XPhone II handhelds is impeccable, offering WAV, WMA, MP3, AMR, ACC, and MPEG-4 file playback capabilities.
With a crystal-clear 64K color and 176 x 220 resolution screen and loudspeaker, the Xphone IIm runs on the Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 smartphone operating system, and features a wireless modem, GPRS and Bluetooth.
Microsoft Pocket Outlook, MSN Messenger, and ActiveSync allow the user to stay current with e-mails, colleagues/friends, calendar and contacts.
The XPhone IIm makes navigation effortless with the O2 Menu and double-access keys which provide a smooth flight through the different functions of the phone, and a "home" key that brings you back to the assigned homepage, leaving a design/interface free of clutter,.
"The Xphone IIm is O2s answer to what these sharp, intelligent professionals want. It is a full-featured smartphone as well as a fashion statement, on top of being a mobile office and entertainment center. It has everything that they want and need," says Mark Billington, O2 Asia chief executive officer.
