MMSU vows full use of Smart wireless laboratory equipment

-
The Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) has assured Smart Communications Inc. that its Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE) students as well as those from other departments, would be able to use the equipment installed in the Smart wireless laboratory for hands-on training.

"There are no white elephants in MMSU," said Dr. Saturnino Ocampo Jr., MMSU president, during the recent inauguration of the Smart wireless laboratory.

Ocampo thanked Smart officials, led by project management and implementation head Dante Medina, for giving MMSU students the opportunity "to be exposed to the different cellular technologies."

Under the Smart Wireless Engineering Education Program (SWEEP), the leading network services provider sets up "wireless laboratories" in various schools designed to give students hands-on experience with mobile telephony equipment.

The program also includes a continuing education component, under which Smart engineers conduct trainings and give special industry updates.

Smart has already twice trained selected MMSU faculty and staff since the signing of the SWEEP memorandum of agreement.

MMSU is one of 38 academic institutions all over the country that have opened their doors to SWEEP since Smart launched the program in March last year.
