Ever the purveyor of the trendy mobile lifestyle, Globe Handyphone introduces yet another hip and exciting service with G-Blogs, the first mobile blogging service in the country.
Building on the worldwide popularity of blogs, short for weblogs or online journals, G-Blogs takes the features of standard blogs and powers them up with the possibilities of mobile connectivity.
Document the days activities instantly, upload photos taken with a camera phone, access blogs without using a PC G-Blogs makes all these possible.
Like popular blogging tools found on the Internet, G-Blogs allows registered users to post text entries and photos on a personalized webspace all their own, as well as browse and post comments on other G-Blogs.
The G-Blogs website can be viewed online at http://g-blogs.com. To create a G-Blog, simply go the G-Blogs website, sign up and start posting.
G-Blog entries can be posted online or via mobile phone. Text entries can be posted by sending POST <TITLE>@ENTRY> to 2815.
Photos can also be uploaded on G-Blogs by sending an MMS with <TITLE>@ENTRY and the attached photo to 2815.
Minimal fees are charged for entries posted via mobile phone. SMS postings cost P2.50 each, and MMS postings, P5 each.
G-Blog hosting is free to all myGlobe members. G-Blog owners get 20MB of free webspace with customizable pre-designed blog templates. They also get to send private messages, chat with other G-Blog owners using the Tagboard, and create private, restricted-access blogs. Non-myGlobe members may also access G-Blogs as "visitors" but cannot create a blog or post comments on other blogs.
The blogging community contains a wide selection of blogs as interesting and diverse as the users themselves. Entries can range from personal thoughts to opinions about current events, photos of exotic travel destinations, or the latest trends in fashion.
Post photos of last nights gimik or write about tips for house-training puppies you call the shots on your blog. G-Blogs makes it easier to share these special blog entries with friends and fellow blogging aficionados, as it allows both G-Blog owners and G-Blog visitors to download or forward blog entries to other mobile phones.
All they have to do is type GET <G-Blog ID #> (for downloads) or FWD<G-Blog ID #><Handyphone#> and send to 2815. Downloads and forwarded entries will be received in MMS form and cost P5 each.
G-Blog owners and visitors can also search for a G-Blog through SMS by sending SEARCH<Name or keyword> to 2815. They will receive an SMS containing the URLs of the search results which they can browse online. And if they want to know more about a particular G-Blog of interest, they just have to send INQ or INQ <G-Blog name found at the end of the URL>to 2815.
Popularity has its privileges in the G-Blog community. For every download or forward of their personal G-Blog entries and photos, G-Blog owners will receive two message credits, which can be accumulated and used to send SMS and MMS on the Web.
