WSA churns out novel apps

Singapore –An engineer of wireless solutions has gone a long way in laying down the foundation of mobile technology in the Philippines.

Its matrix has encompassed all media of telecommunications: mobile phones, broadcast facilities and production units. As the global market expands, Wireless Services Asia (WSA) gears up to cope with the increasing demand for quality, more innovative wireless applications.

When WSA started out in 1999, the company’s focal point was to "provide state-of-the-art entertainment solutions addressing the needs of mobile users."

"Wireless Services Asia is part of a global network where the customer base includes mobile operators and even broadcasting and productions outfits," says WSA chief operating officer Manny Fernando.

"Being part of this network enables us to tap a huge resource of contents out of worldwide agreements with content owners in the music, film and gaming industries," he added.

Combine these resources with the ingenuity of Filipinos and the result would be state-of-the-art applications that satisfy even the most demanding customers.

Fernando says, "Creativity is essential in this industry. We always have to keep our customers remarking, ‘Wow! This is simply great.’ We are a factory of fresh, big and innovative ideas. And definitely, the biggest factor why we could keep up with this demand is because of our team of young, highly talented Filipinos."

WSA was responsible for starting the trend that shattered the habits of "generation texters" and revolutionized the capability of their mobile phones. GameChannel Extreme holds the distinction of being the first interactive mobile-TV gaming arcade in Asia.

Aside from the regular interactive arcade games, WSA simply refuses to stop striking the red, hot iron. GCX has since introduced three new formats to keep texters holding onto their cellphones for longer hours – I-FAN, I-MATCH and I-MV,  all of which are certified "firsts."

I-FAN is the new generation of interactive talk show that allows viewers to communicate with guests in GCX. I-Match is the first interactive dating medium where viewers can help the searcher find his or her perfect match via SMS polling.

And then there is I-MV that keeps GCXers updated on the latest ringtones and MMS album covers.
