Malayan Insurance introduces ‘Text Insure’

"Insured ka na ba?" This is a question often asked of Filipinos.

Surveys have it that less than 0.5 percent of Filipinos are covered by personal accident insurance. Accessibility and price are the major reasons for the very low percentage. Most Filipinos cannot afford to buy insurance.

With this in mind, Malayan Insurance is introducing "Text Insure," the fastest, cheapest and easiest way to get a personal accident insurance.

For as low as P10 a day, Smart and Talk N’ Text subscribers can now text and get an insurance coverage of P500,000 using their cellphones.

Here’s how: Register first by texting the following information – INSURE REGO <Alias><Age><Last Name><First Name><Middle Name> – to 323.

After registering, you will receive a text message with the unique passport key for your cellphone and instructions on how to buy your insurance. You will also be reminded to read the insurance policy.

If you are eligible, wish to be insured, and agree with the terms and conditions, sign the insurance policy before buying your insurance. The one-time registration fee costs P2.50.

Just like regular insurance, you must sign an insurance policy. Text Insure policies will be published in major newspapers every Friday. You only need to register and sign the policy once. You do not need to submit the policy. Keep the insurance policy because you will need it when making an insurance claim.

Once you have registered and signed the policy, you can purchase your P500,000 accident insurance anytime, anywhere. Just text the following information – INSURE BUY <Alias><Passport Key> (which is supplied after registration) to 323 for both Smart and Talk N’ Text.

You will immediately receive a confirmation text message with the date and time of the effectivity of the insurance coverage and a certificate of coverage number. You will be charged P10 per insurance purchase.
