"DSL is the fastest growing broadband access technology in the Philippines. For the corporate sector, it is also becoming the preferred technology with which to access the Internet," said Virgil Pedro, Eastern Telecom vice president for product management, marketing and channels.
"Since we started offering Eastern DSL in early 2000, we have seen hundreds of companies shifting from dedicated dial-up service to DSL. These companies actually begin to change the way they use the Internet once they start using Eastern DSL," he said.
Eastern DSL, which the company has developed specifically for the business sector, is suitable for both high-end users as well as small and medium-sized enterprises.
Among the regular business applications supported by Eastern DSL are access to a corporate LAN/WAN, retrieval of large files, sending and receiving of e-mail and data transfer.
Eastern DSL also supports voice over IP, which makes it a cost-effective alternative over regular international and domestic long-distance calls.
At present, Eastern DSL is available for business users in Makati, Ortigas, Manila, Parañaque, Pasay, Caloocan, Alabang, Quezon City, Cavite and Cebu.
