Motorola still tops processor market

With well over 100 million units shipped to date, Motorolas communications processor portfolio is credited with over 350 customers and greater than 5,000 design wins with its popular PowerQUICC family of processors leading the charge.
According to a report released recently by Gartner Dataquest, Motorola ranks number one with 74.7 percent market share in communications processor ICs.
Motorola created the communications processor market over a decade ago with the introduction of the MC68302, the industrys first multi-protocol microprocessor.
At a time when the Internet was in its infancy, Motorola, together with its innovative customers and alliance members, pioneered the processing and intelligence behind the systems that make global communications and productivity a reality today.
Designed to be versatile, Motorolas communications processors have found their place in a wide variety of applications.
