PLDT: Best in investor relations

-
Telecoms giant Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) bagged the prestigious award as Best in Investor Relations in the Philippines for 2001 in the annual best managed companies’ poll of leading finance publication Asiamoney Magazine.

Referring to the challenging year that Asian companies had to go through, Asiamoney writers Olivia Chow and Robert Law said, "It takes real quality of management to keep investors on your side when all around you is going horribly wrong."

The premium and importance PLDT gives its investors is further validated by the company’s No. 2 ranking in Accessibility to Senior Management and its Top 5 ranking in Corporate Governance.

Aside from landing No. 1 in investor relations, PLDT also landed No. 1 in the Best Corporate Website category – an award that speaks well of PLDT and ePLDT’s leadership in the new media business.

PLDT also figured highly in the list for Overall Best Managed Company for 2001 and proved its stability by ranking well in the list for Best Managed Company over the last 10 years.

Asiamoney’s tenth annual best managed companies’ poll was faxed to nearly 2,000 fund managers, chief investment officers and heads of research at fund management firms, insurance companies and brokerage houses in the Asia-Pacific, Europe and the United States.

Asiamoney also voted PLDT as one of the best managed companies in the Philippines in 1997 after conducting a worldwide poll among institutional investors.
