With this new offer, Alcatel will be able to answer all operators’ needs in the entire frequency range available for mobile networks.
The availability of the 800MHz-frequency range will further speed up the GSM development process, leaving technologies such as D-AMPS and CDMA far behind since they do not offer as easy an evolution towards mobile Internet and 3G networks as the GSM technology does.
This evolution is significant in certain Asian countries and in Latin America where many operators have already chosen the GSM 1900 Evolium solution from Alcatel.
In Latin America, operators have chosen Alcatel to replace their existing D-AMPS network. This migration has been successfully completed without service interruption, completely transparent for the user.
For 2002, the frequency extensions towards the 800MHz range will allow an easy migration for many other networks.
