MANILA, Philippines — Kevin Quiambao’s keenly awaited Korean Basketball League debut was cut short by an ankle sprain in the first half of the Goyang Sono Skygunners’ duel against the top-seeded Seoul SK Knights yesterday at the Goyang Gymnasium.

Quiambao took a bad landing after a three-point attempt in the 7:42 mark of the second quarter and was immediately subbed out of the game won convincingly by Seoul, 84-57.

The two-time UAAP MVP from La Salle had six points on two triples and a rebound in almost seven minutes of play as he did not return to the game after his fall.

Meanwhile, UAAP Finals MVP JD Cagulangan of the University of the Philippines made heads turn in his own KBL debut on Friday, scattering seven points, nine assists, four rebounds and five steals in a losing cause. His team Suwon KT Sonicboom bowed to the Seoul Samsung Thunders, 78-63.

Carl Tamayo continued his fine play with 31 points as the Changwon LG Sakers bested the Anyang JKJ Red Boosters, 86-82.
