Mandaue opens one-stop-shop
CEBU, Philippines — Business owners in Mandaue City can renew their business permits through the Business One-Stop Shop (BOSS) at the Mandaue City Sports Complex starting yesterday, January 2, until January 20, 2025.
Atty. Charmaine Regine Otadoy, officer of the Business Processing and Licensing Office, encouraged business owners, business processors, and taxpayers to renew their permits early to avoid incurring penalties. Otadoy said that there will be no extensions in mind so far.
On its opening day, around 200 entrepreneurs had renewed their permits.
“In order for them not to incur any penalties mas maayo og mag-renew na gyud sila as early as possible,” said Otadoy.
She also added that entrepreneurs can choose online processing from the comfort of their homes or opt for walk-in service at the Sports Complex to receive assistance if needed. The officer said that the process has been simplified since its establishment in 2020 during the pandemic.
“So far so good, okay ra kaayo atoang feedback from the business sector…we continued it this year kay okay ra man gyud ang online,” she said.
Business permit renewal will be available from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from Mondays to Fridays and 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on weekends. Since it’s a One-Stop Shop, aside from the BPLO, the City Treasurer’s Office and Real Property Tax Office are also found in the complex.
Additionally, regulatory offices such as the Sanitary Office, City Environment and Natural Resources Office, City Veterinary, among others, are also available. Otadoy said that what entrepreneurs will receive upon renewal is the assessment, but the permit will be scheduled for release in the first week of February.
Otadoy said that the number of establishments in Mandaue City this year has exceeded 16,000. If they fail to renew, penalties will be 25% of their payment, and interest will accumulate at 2% per month, based on the amount.
On the other hand, City Administrator Atty. Jamaal James Calipayan is also encouraging Mandaue business owners to renew their businesses within the mentioned timeline.
“It’s very simple nalang gyud ang atong business renewal, mas convenient and simple ang renewal,” said Calipayan.
He also reminded those who are not planning to continue their business that they can visit the One-Stop Shop to process the retirement of their business.
“It is important also para dili mo ma penalty so this is also a reminder of those who are not planning to continue to retire your business already so that you will not be penalized,” said Calipayan. FPL (CEBU NEWS)
