4 dead as fallen tree hits tricycle in Lanao

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Four villagers died when a tree fell on the tricycle they were riding in Barangay Cabsaran, Malabang, Lanao del Sur on Friday.

In separate reports yesterday, the Ministry of Social Services and Development in Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) and the Lanao del Sur Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said three fatalities were adolescent female students of an Islamic school in Malabang town.

The reports also said three other passengers were injured and brought to Doctor Serapio Montañer Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Raissa Jajurie, BARMM social services minister, said her office provided assistance to the families of the four Maranaos who died in the incident.

Government personnel have been clearing road stretches that connect Malabang to Cotabato City and Zamboanga del Sur province from trees felled by strong winds.
