Acer leads in PC, projector markets in Phl

MANILA, Philippines - Global tech giant Acer, one of the world’s most renowned and trusted IT brands, continues its leadership in the country’s PC and projector markets as it posted impressive numbers.

Acer, represented by its local subsidiary Acer (Philippines) Inc., is again the number one overall PC vendor in the Philippines for 2013.

According to the latest results of the Asia-Pacific Quarterly PC Tracker by the International Data Corp. (IDC), the premier market research firm focusing on the information technology, telecommunications and consumer technology markets, Acer shipped a total of 226,000 units.

This resulted in a 30.3 percent market share, which further reaffirmed its rank as the consistent top PC seller nationwide, the sixth year in a row that Acer topped the PC category.   

Just like the PC market, Acer also emerged No. 1 in the DLP (Digital Light Processing) projector race in 2013 as it posted a 51 percent share, as per the latest results of the IDC’s 2013 Philippines Projector Tracker.

This means that Acer projectors remain to be an important choice as computer peripheral, particularly in the business and education sector, owing to its wide product line-up, which mostly consists of entry-level and mid-range projectors.

Last year, Acer had the largest shipment recorded due to the Department of Education (DepEd) bid it won during the third quarter, where it deployed a huge volume of projectors to schools nationwide in fulfillment of the agency’s undertaking.

Apart from DepEd, Acer also engaged in a number of end-user programs, including the bundling of its LED projector with mobile handheld devices (tablets), and the LED projectors made a lot of buzz as it ran above-the-line promotions of this form factor in 2013.

Acer’s strong performance in the computer and projector markets, according to Acer Philippines general manager Manuel Wong, is a solid testament to all the hard work of the local team.

“We again hope to continue on this streak by continuing to innovate and improve on both products and earn customer satisfaction,” Wong said.
