Google taps DPC-YP

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Google recently announced the appointment of Directories Philippines Corp. (DPC), official marketer of Yellow Pages (YP) products and services, as a Google Adwords Premier SME (small and medium enterprise) Partner in the country.

All over the world, Google is building a network of partners dedicated to providing specialized services to help SMEs grow.

The announcement comes auspiciously on the 55th year of YP in the Philippines. Having built relationships with SMEs for decades, DPC-YP is a natural choice as Google Adwords Premium SME Partner.

YP has evolved from being a directional advertising medium, based on selling ad space and listings in print directories, to a provider of customized marketing solutions for SMEs.

“The Yellow Pages has had an online presence for 14 years now,” Domingo Angelo Lopez, VP for product development at DPC, said.

“Over the last decade, we have expanded our presence across the mobile and social media space as well. This goes to show how businesses can evolve in sync with technological changes in the marketplace. We have well-trained teams, and with the support from Google, we are able to reinforce our message to SMEs that no one works harder to help grow their business than the Yellow Pages,” Lopez added.

According to Google, over 35 million Filipinos access the Internet through computers and mobile devices. At present, only a small fraction of some 800,000 SMEs advertise online.

Narciso Reyes, country manager of Google Philippines, said many SMEs want to do more online but lack the time, resources or expertise to get started.
