Acer again tops PC, projector markets in Phl

MANILA, Philippines - Acer, one of the world’s most renowned IT brands, has posted impressive numbers to keep its leadership in the PC sector and also maintain its lead in the local projector market.

A globally trusted computer manufacturer, Acer is the number one overall PC vendor in the Philippines based on the latest results of the IDC Asia-Pacific Quarterly PC Tracker released by IDC (International Data Corp.), the premier market research company focusing on the information technology, telecommunications and consumer technology markets.

Acer, represented in the country by its subsidiary, Acer (Philippines) Inc., once again leads the PC market in the country, in particular the notebook computer segment where it grabbed 40 percent market share, thus reaffirming its position as the number one branded PC locally.

Meanwhile, in the projector category, an important computer peripheral for the business and education sector, Acer projectors again garnered significant market share against the other more established brands.

According to Pacific Media Associates (PMA), the high-tech market research group that specializes in the projector market (Pico and mainstream for business and education to home theater and digital cinema projectors), Acer led in the most number of units shipped during the first quarter this year, thus grabbing 30-percent market share among the top 10 projector brands in the country.

With these new numbers released by the PMA, Acer projectors continue to maintain and strengthen market leadership for this digital device for the past three consecutive years.

Acer’s strong performance in the PC and projector markets, according to Acer Philippines general manager Manuel Wong, is a solid testament to all the hard work of the local team.

“We again hope to continue on this streak by continuing to innovate and improve on both products and earn customer satisfaction,” he said.

These results from both the IDC and PMA are offshoots of recent accolades bestowed on Acer by two of the most renowned magazines in the country.

Hardware Zone Philippines recently bestowed the HWM Silver Award on Acer while Reader’s Digest also made Acer as a “Trusted Brand” during the Reader’s Digest Trusted Brands awarding ceremony held recently.
