Samsung unveils Series 7 Chronos

MANILA, Philippines - Samsung Electronics Philippines Corp. (SEPCO), a leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, has announced the launch of its premium Series 7 Chronos notebook PC during a press conference at Time Bar in Makati City last week.

Encased in a stunningly thin and compact aluminum chassis, the high-spec Series 7 Chronos with Intel’s Core i5 processor embraces the ExpressCache technology, providing an extra 8GB of flash memory on the motherboard.

This enables a faster start-up as well as increased overall performance with up to two times faster Web browsing (based on Microsoft Internet Explorer) and two seconds wake-up.

In addition to exceptional speed, the Series 7 Chronos also delivers maximum performance in its high-quality display. Incorporating Samsung’s latest “MAX screen” technology, it enables users to experience an extra inch of immersive viewing without sacrificing mobility or portability with the 15-inch display contained within the form factor traditionally associated with a 14-inch model.

“Following the success of our stunning Series 9 notebook, we are expanding our premium notebook range. With the Series 7, we have matched powerful new features with Samsung’s design and engineering excellence to produce a truly special product,” said Eric Sulit, business unit head of SEPCO IT.

Powered by Intel’s i5 processor, the Series 7 Chronos delivers unrivalled pace right from the start with ExpressCache, a technology that accelerates boot-up and start times.

Samsung’s FastStart sees the PC ready to use in just two seconds, a 33 percent time-improvement on previous models, while Quick Boot has the notebook ready to go - from cold - in just 24 seconds.

The performance of the Series 7 Chronos is further enhanced by the notebook’s extended battery life. In addition to the battery life of up to eight hours on a single charge (based on MobileMark test scores), Samsung’s Battery Life Plus technology keeps 80 percent of the cell’s original capacity in a life cycle lasting up to 1,500 charging cycles. This ensures that the battery can last up to five times longer than other notebooks.

Samsung’s elite engineers have succeeded in greatly reducing the bezel size of the Series 7 Chronos, allowing a 15-inch display to fit into a profile usually used for 14-inch models. The result is a stunning viewing experience, with a larger screen in the form factor of a smaller model.

The Series 7 Chronos also benefits from Samsung’s Superior LCD technology, a display that delivers a next-generation HD+ (1600 x 900) high-resolution viewing experience.

The Series 7 Chronos boasts of SuperBright 300nit brightness, 16 million colors and an anti-reflective screen. Films and pictures look rich, vivid and crisp, with noticeable improvements in color depth.

Graphics performance is guaranteed with the inclusion of an AMD Radeon HD6750M graphics card where films, games and multimedia can be enjoyed with faultless playback.

Samsung’s SoundAlive technology then ensures that audio playback matches the visual quality to provide a mesmerizing audiovisual experience. Finally, users can also use built-in 1.3mp HD webcam to keep in touch with friends and family, all in crystal-clear clarity.

Stunning design meets smart usability

The Series 7 Chronos has been designed with an eye-catching style to complement its stunning performance. Crafted using modern brushed-aluminum, the durable casing gives the Series 7 an exclusive, sophisticated look. Thin and compact, the 14-inch Series 7 weighs just 2.17kg (4.78lbs) and is just 23.9-mm thick.

The Series 7 Chronos design is not only good-looking, it is also highly intelligent. An automatic sensor ensures the backlit keyboard and LCD are either dimmed or brightened as according to lighting levels.

Samsung has also included two pieces of software designed to improve the user experience. Easy Migration enables simple, guided data migration from the user’s previous PC to their Series 7 using either a USB connection, wired LAN or Wi-Fi network.

Samsung’s Control Center also allows full control over the features on your PC, ensuring the user can manage his device and the way he uses it.
