MINT College issues iPad 2 to students

-

MANILA, Philippines - Meridian International (MINT) Business, Arts and Technology College in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City recently issued Apple iPad 2 tablets to all its first-year students as part of the school’s overall philosophy of transforming the educational experience to fit the needs of the 21st century.

Students anxiously waited for the distribution of their new educational devices along with a free Paqrat slingbag provided by MINT. The school was abuzz with every student checking out their new iPads.

Sleeker, faster and more robust than its predecessor, the iPad 2 is on every gadget lover’s must-have list. MINT College sees the iPad 2 not only as a cool, high-tech entertainment device, but also as a revolutionary educational tool.

“The iPad 2 will allow students direct access to lesson plans for all their coursework at MINT,” said Bal Endriga, MINT College president and CEO.

“They will be able to view teacher presentations and required e-book readings, submit assignments, collaborate with their classmates and teachers, do online research, blog reports and even take exams all from the convenience of this breakthrough device,” Endriga said.

The MINT educational system, according to Endriga, is also beneficial to their faculty. “Our teachers can provide their entire lesson plan online, substantially reducing the amount of administrative work, which means more time to focus on each student’s educational needs.”

“Not having to spend too much time with printing, distributing and even grading is a huge benefit to the teacher and student,” he said.

Endriga added that less paperwork means less waste, bolstering MINT College’s commitment to social responsibility and the environment.

Technology will also play a key role in the delivery of quality education to the underprivileged. MINT recently formed a strategic alliance with Gawad Kalinga, and will soon be piloting distance education to the GK Enchanted Farm in Bulacan and another site in Iloilo.

MINT College is the only school in the country to equip each student with an iPad 2 device at no charge, to engage students in learning that is collaborative, compelling, and relevant.

MINT College embraces the use of technology as an integral part of its educational system with cellular and tablet devices, and cloud computing for its distance learning initiatives.

MINT College develops its students to be critical thinkers who can qualify and quantify goals, validate assumptions, evaluate facts, implement plans, and assess conclusions.

Through project-based work, individual and group study, and flexible working environments, including industry exposure through actual commercial projects, MINT College has created an environment that sets a new standard for education in the Philippines and the rest of the world.
