Speedo's new devices capture fun, excitement of water activities

MANILA, Philippines - Speedo, the premium maker of high-performance swimwear, has launched the Speedo Aquashot underwater camera and the Speedo Aquabeat underwater MP3 player targeted at athletes and ordinary swimmers alike. 

Missing those beautiful water shots is no longer a problem with the Speedo Aquashot camera. With a ruggedized body, the Aquashot can be used underwater up to three meters deep and still operate just like a traditional digital camera. It is has a nine-megapixel resolution that provides the best quality images and with a powerful built-in flash, the Aquashot can take photos in clear or murky water, be it in daylight or at night.

The huge and brightly lit 2.4-inch screen also provides the best view even underwater, ensuring that the user will get the best images.

The Aquashot also has all the basic functions of a digital camera, including ISO controls, auto-exposure, a timer, zoom functions, and scenery settings.

Apart from taking photos, it can also record VGA videos with sound, further expanding its function to capture memorable action shots.

The Speedo Aquashot has an internal 32-megabyte memory capacity. But if this is not enough, there is an SD card slot that can accommodate up to eight gigabytes. For ease of use, the images from the internal and removable memory can be transferred to a PC via USB.

One of the highlights of the Aquashot is that it can float on water, thus reducing the problem of losing the camera when underwater. To add to its safety features, it also comes with a wrist strap.

Among the best features of the Aquabeat are its earphone clips, which have been shaped to fit the outer ear without sacrificing audio quality. It is also shaped to help block the entry of water into the ear, which helps swimmers to concentrate underwater.

To reduce drag, the earphone clips have also been designed with a fin to allow water to pass over the earphones, thus helping in improving hydrodynamics.

The Aquabeat comes in one-gigabyte and two-gigabyte variants. It can play music in MP3, VBR, and WMA file formats and can also be used for up to nine hours. It comes in lime green, pink, gray, blue and purple. The Aquabeat is ideal for pool use only and is not recommended for use in salt water.
