Samsung rolls out new products in grand AV roadshow
MANILA, Philippines- Samsung Electronics Philippines Corp. recently embarked on a grand audio-video roadshow to showcase its latest range of TVs, TV accessories, Blu-ray players, camcorders and digital cameras.
Held at the posh grand ballroom of the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Ortigas, the roadshow was spearheaded by the company’s state-of-the-art Internet-enabled LED Smart TVs.
New in 2011, Samsung’s LED TV lineup — the award-winning 8000, 7000 and 6600 — offers dramatically enhanced picture quality in 2D, 3D, FHD and online content, as well as richer connected entertainment options delivered through one of the most comprehensive offering of apps and connected devices.
The new LED TVs sport new innovative, ultra-thin TV bezels that give consumers a larger viewing screen without increasing the size of the TV.
The new bezels are the result of extensive design research, Samsung’s proprietary new panel technology and innovative signal processing technology.
The D8000 Series comes with Samsung’s new 3D glasses. With a built-in Wi-Fi connection and many convenient ways to manage and display content through Samsung’s Smart Hub portal, the D8000 can connect to other devices using DLNA or Samsung’s patented One Foot Connection technology.
Meanwhile, Samsung’s 490 series HD 3D Plasma TVs offer breathtaking picture quality, advanced connectivity options and superior audio-visual technologies.
It offers Samsung’s breakthrough Plasma+1 design, which features a new narrow bezel design that adds one inch of viewable screen size over last year’s products for a greater viewing area without increasing the outside dimensions of the set.
The Plasma D490 Series includes three HDMI inputs and one USB input, providing users with multiple connectivity options — including the ConnectShare Movie feature that seamlessly allows movies, music and photos to be shared between a PC and TV by plugging in a USB or HDD.
Samsung’s new 2011 TV accessory line features an array of breakthrough technologies, including Samsung’s first wireless charger for 3D active glasses, lightweight prescription-ready 3D active glasses, a wireless router, wireless LAN adapter and a Skype-certified HD TV camera that transforms TVs into widescreen video phones.
Samsung’s Blu-ray player line — the award-winning BD-D7500 and BD-D5500 — boasts Samsung’s Smart Hub via integrated wireless and Smart Blu-ray features. The D7500 has Samsung’s innovative system-on-chip (SoC) for exceptional 3D up-conversion of movies, pictures and streaming video.
The players are designed as symmetric products, with all the major functions placed in the middle so that using the device is easy and convenient. The lack of moving parts in the slot-in method for loading disc media also makes the unit quieter and more efficient than those with loading trays.
Samsung’s premium Blu-ray line-up also includes advanced Smart Blu-ray features — such as AllShare and Smart Hub, which includes Your Video, Search All, Web Browser and Samsung Apps — that make it even easier for people to access and share content that speaks to their passions.
On the home theater side, Samsung’s 2011 lineup combines Blu-ray integration and wireless features with superior sound quality to complement the breadth of content that people watch in their home, whether it is 3D, 2D, HD or streaming content.
The HT-D5550K supports full HD 1080p video playback for both Blu-ray and standard DVDs. The system can also up-convert non-HD content to be played at full 1080p, and has a powerful video processor to convert 2D content to 3D.
This 5.1 channel, 1000-watt home theater system with a built-in karaoke feature includes four stylish tallboy speakers and delivers powerful, theater-like sound to the room. The HT-D5550K supports HD audio formats, including Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio.
With Samsung’s improved Crystal Amplifier Plus technology, the HT-D5550K filters sound distortion and noise to generate an incredibly pure sound.
Additionally, an advanced, built-in DPS effect generator, called 3D Sound, creates an immersive audio experience when watching 3D content and generates sounds that move with the 3D picture.
Users can access interactive and Web-based content through Smart Blu-ray Home Theater features, including AllShare, which allows people to wirelessly sync digital devices so that they can enjoy music, movies and photos directly from their DLNA-certified PC, camera and mobile devices on their larger TV screen.
Samsung’s HMX-Q100 has been designed to bring together all of Samsung’s full-HD camcorder technology, with a high-quality BSI CMOS sensor and advanced video functions.
The HMX-Q100 delivers spectacular image quality, using groundbreaking technology and smart features such as its innovative Switch Grip.
Easy Operation means that users can control detailed processes, turn the camcorder on and off and operate the playback function easily through the LCD screen. It can also double as a 4.9MP still camera.
The camcorder also features Samsung’s Optical Image Stabilization Duo System that helps capture stable and clear video whatever situation the users finds themselves in.
On the prosumer camera front, the latest addition to the NX family of cameras, the NX11, contains a feature set similar to Samsung’s first mirrorless interchangeable lens camera, the NX10, but is also compatible with Samsung’s new i-Function lens.
The NX11 is designed to be user-friendly, with a change in the grip design to make shooting easier and more comfortable for users. It has a lens priority mode dial, to simplify searching for the best mode for each lens.
The camera’s panorama mode allows users to take panoramic pictures in one press-and-sweep motion. As with the NX10, the NX11 uses a leading APS-C sensor, which is larger than that of a Micro 4/3, delivering high-quality images easily.
The i-Function lens puts the perfect picture at the fingertips of all photographers by providing an easy way to control the camera.
The i-Function allows photographers to naturally use their left hand to change settings through a button built into the i-Function lens, without the need to take the camera off the target.
Users can toggle between shutter speed, aperture, EV, WB, and ISO quickly and easily by using the i-Function button and ring on the lens.
Samsung’s SH100, on the other hand, is a compact, Wi-Fi-enabled 14.2MP camera that lets users automatically back up their shots to a PC by pushing just two buttons, or use DLNA to hook up to an HDTV and see photos and videos straight away.
The Wi-Fi capability also enables users to upload pictures instantly to social networking sites such as Facebook, Picasa or Photo Bucket, or to e-mail them to individual e-mail addresses straight from the camera.
The Wi-Fi capability on the SH100 also lets a Samsung Galaxy smartphone act as a remote control and viewing device for the camera. If you’re shooting over a crowd at a concert, you can enable the Remote Viewfinder function so you can hold your camera high over your head while you can see a preview of the picture in real time on your phone screen.
The camera can even use the Galaxy smartphone’s GPS capabilities to geo-tag images.
The 26-mm wide-angle lens with 5x optical zoom SH100 is also equipped with Samsung’s new touch-based Smart Touch 3.0. This enables users to drag, click and control “app-style” icons, easily flip through photos, and control a range of the camera’s features quickly and intuitively.
Last but not least, the ST700 dual-screen compact camera boasts of a 1.8-inch front LCD screen, the largest ever incorporated into a dual screen camera.
It also includes an impressive 3.0-inch touch screen featuring Samsung’s innovative Smart Touch 3.0 feature on the back of the camera for seamless usability and a clear, crisp display. The ST700 doesn’t lose out on image quality either, with 16.1MP image sensor and a 26-mm 5x optical zoom lens.
The Smart 2.0 filters, such as “soft focus,” “half-tone dot” and “cinema” sit alongside more common features such as “fish-eye,” “miniature” and “sketch” in the three new models, giving entertaining and professional finishes at the touch of a button.
Users can also employ the new Magic Frame feature to instantly create formatted postcards or posters to share with friends and family.
