New art-inspired VAIO notebooks out

MANILA, Philippines - It’s a work of art. A masterpiece. A machine that transcends mere specs.

It’s the new VAIO “Spring Collection” from Sony — the seasonal reference owing to the fact that the Japanese electronics giant releases new personal computers in time with the change of season in its home market.

While the company is known for introducing breakthroughs, VAIO product engineers are known for their creative compulsion to place their products above the offerings of competing brands. With the painstaking passion of artists, they craft technology and design to achieve the perfect balance between style and performance.

“Premium quality is the utmost consideration with VAIO. It includes capturing the wants and needs of every customer. Knowing that every person has different personalities and desires, the product engineers designed VAIO to cater to these varied wishes,” said Yung Yap, director for VAIO marketing and IT sales of Sony Philippines, during the recent launch of the new VAIO notebooks at the Ayala Museum.

“Mobile VAIO laptops are created for those who are always on the go - beautifully designed, fashion-forward, technologically advanced laptops for those who love the best machinery and innovative gadgets,” Yap said.

“VAIO is a brand that does not make general products for the faceless masses, but who thinks of its customers as different individuals who have various needs. VAIO is not just a laptop, but an investment for its users,” he added.

Leading the new models is a new series, the VAIO C. The P69,999 VAIO C is defined by an attractive chassis, which sports a light-emitting material that comes in illuminating hues of neon orange and neon green, as well as in an elegantly simple pink, black and white.

The 14-inch new VAIO C is a high-performance notebook, powered by an Intel Core i5 processor and a Dynamic Hybrid Graphics System that switches automatically between the internal and external graphics chip depending on the usage.

Next up is VAIO’s bang-for-the-buck champ, the VAIO Y. Priced at P29,999, the 11.6-inch VAIO Y is bigger and more powerful than any netbook in the market, despite its very attractive near-netbook price point.

The VAIO Y is designed to be stylish and ergonomic. Its profile comes together in a convergence line for a sleek, tapered look. Full featured but incredibly light at less than 1.5 kg, the VAIO Y can easily be slipped inside one’s briefcase or bag and can last for up to four hours without charging.

The VAIO Y’s isolated keyboard assures comfortable, precise typing. It is complemented by an intuitive touchpad for precision gesture control. The Y-series is powered by an AMD Dual-Core Processor E-350 with AMD Radeon HD 6310 Discrete-Class Graphics, which delivers a vivid and seamless high-definition experience, including smooth playback of full-HD video and faster Internet operation.

The VAIO Y is available in silver, pink, and green colors.

The revitalized VAIO S, meanwhile, is firm in its positioning as an enterprise tool. The VAIO S comes in a beautiful new magnesium hexa-shell design that is full-flat with a concealed hinge.

Ideal for constant business travel, a flat, extended battery is also available for the VAIO S. If both primary and extended batteries are attached, the VAIO smartly consumes the latter first, so users can leave it behind later on. A combined battery life from its primary and extended batteries will provide mobile individuals computing productivity for almost 12 hours.

The minimalist 13-inch looker does not sacrifice on performance, with an Intel Core i5 processor, 512 MB external graphics card, and a performance switch where you can manually change between the internal and external graphics chip depending on the usage.

The powerful yet elegant new VAIO S comes in beautiful matte black and metallic pink colors. It has a retail price of P69,999.

Last but not least is Sony’s laptop of choice for gamers and movie fans, particularly those who are into 3D. It’s the new VAIO F series and it’s the first-ever 3D VAIO. It brings a 16-inch full-HD display enabling bright and crisp 3D images, optimized for comfortable, flicker-less viewing.

Powered by a super-fast Intel Core i7 Quad-Core processor and NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M GPU, Sony borrows from the heritage of its superb Bravia televisions and enables a frame sequential method with LED backlit control in the VAIO F.

The VAIO F is bundled with a pair of active shutter glasses, an improvement to the passive polarized 3D screens used by other 3D notebook brands, ensuring sharper, brighter images with a super-fast response time and wide viewing angle. It has a retail price of P149,999.
