- Manny N. de los Reyes -

MANILA, Philippines - Samsung Electronics Philippines Corp. (Sepco) unveiled last week several new series of netbooks and ultra-portable notebooks.

Coupling a streamlined design with high-end features, the new lineup of SF series notebooks and NF series netbooks has been designed to match the dynamic and ever-changing lifestyles of mobile users.

“Inspired and elegantly crafted, this new lineup is truly representative of our efforts to come up with a new style in mobile computers,” said Seongwoo Nam, executive vice president and head of IT solutions business of Samsung Electronics.

“I believe that Samsung’s new mobile computer designs are fresh and will drive design trends across the computer industry and satisfy style-conscious users,” he added.

The P51,900 SF410 notebook sports a glossy ivory exterior, a stylish matte black interior, and a comfortable island keyboard. It has a 14-inch screen and an ultra-light and scratch-resistant case.

Powered by Intel Core i5 dual-core processors, the SF series has premium lithium polymer batteries (61Wh battery) that provide up to seven hours of battery life.

For additional convenience, the SF series also features Samsung’s Express Charging Mode, reducing charging times and delivering a full battery in just two to three hours.

Samsung’s Fast Start technology enables users to open the notebook and be ready to go in seconds, minimizing the usual lengthy boot-up time

The SF series’ one-touch wireless control button allows you to connect immediately without any complicated steps, further maximizing your productive time.

They also help users stay connected with their devices. Samsung’s convenient Sleep and Charge USB lets users plug in external devices via the USB connection, to charge without turning on the notebook.

The Samsung P25,900 NF310 netbook, meanwhile, sports a crystal-clear HD LED screen, unique surround sound system, an Intel Atom N550 dual-core processor, DDR3 memory and Windows 7, taking netbook computing into a whole new dimension of multimedia performance.

The NF310 lets users view High-Definition movies and images that are clear and picture perfect even in bright light with a high resolution (1366 x 768) 16:9 widescreen.

The P23,900 NF210 netbook, on the other hand, combines an extensive battery life of up to 11 hours (six-cell 8850mAh battery) with an ultra-portable and stylish design.

Last but not least for the NF series, the P20,900 NF110 gives trendsetting consumers all they want in a netbook at an affordable price.

With extensive quality assurance testing and a majority of its components manufactured by Samsung, the new netbooks and notebooks affordably deliver exceptional reliability and long-term value.

The new notebooks also come equipped with Samsung AllShare, allowing users to share and play videos, photos, and music across a full range of Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA)-certified Samsung devices, including cameras and handsets.

Sharing content from PC-to-PC over a network can be complex and require a lot of IT knowledge. However, with Samsung’s Easy File Share, it’s very simple and intuitive to make a direct PC-to-PC connection over an ad-hoc Wi-Fi connection.

Samsung also unveiled its QX series notebooks, a premium addition to Samsung’s fast-growing mobile computing portfolio. These top-of-the-line notebooks are crafted from the finest materials to deliver high performance and mobility in three screen sizes: 13.3” (QX310), 14” (QX410) and 15.6” (QX510).

“The QX series is the masterpiece of Samsung’s computer business. The QX series incorporates premium design, powerful performance, and the latest multimedia and communication features,” Seongwoo said.

“With the QX series, we can offer consumers the freedom to choose their computer from a full range of Samsung notebook PCs,” he added.

Thanks to Intel Corei5 processors with up to 3.2 GHz clock speed, 4GB of DDR3 memory, and a 500GB SATA HDD, the QX series offers state-of-the-art portability and performance. The 14” QX410 retails for P59,900.

The new upscale notebooks also employ a hybrid approach to graphic display. To deliver longer battery life, the QX series uses the internal Intel graphic processor for regular use then automatically switches to the nVIDIA graphics card for displaying High-Definition video or gaming content.

To ensure convenient access to a true multimedia experience, the QX range provides dedicated multimedia controls, powerful speakers and a bigger acoustic chamber enhanced by realistic 3D SRS Premium Sound.

The QX series’ premium lithium polymer battery offers up to 6.9 hours of battery life. The QX series also feature Samsung’s Express Charging Mode, reducing charging times and delivering a full battery in just two to three hours.

The QX series’ streamlined body with airfoil design exterior makes the notebooks as eye-catching as they are powerful; the robust and scratch-resistant durable case provides amazing strength and superior reliability.

A combination of aluminum LCD back and edge-to-edge LCD display, coupled with side-doors to hide a variety of connection ports, ensures a smooth, unbroken design profile. Samsung has also incorporated a stylish yet functional island keyboard and large, button-less Gesture pad, supporting a multi-finger interface to increase accuracy and speed.

The QX series also boast Samsung’s Fast Start, AllShare and Easy File Share features, as well as Samsung’s Sleep and Charge USB port.
