New HP boss unveils latest consumer PCs

- Alma Buelva -

MANILA, Philippines - Albert Mateo, the new country manager for HP Philippines Personal Systems Group, recently led the unveiling of the company’s newest consumer notebook PCs made up of a brand new line called the HP G Series and the latest HP Mini 210.

Mateo, who is a returning HP employee who first joined the company when it opened a local subsidiary in 1995, said the new announcements fused advanced technologies with stylish designs specifically for a category they now wish to cover better — the mass market. The G Series, he said, was their answer to the increasing demand for an entry-level notebook under the HP brand.

The new HP G Series consumer notebooks offer compelling performance, looks and value. Tracy Sin, a regional HP executive who was present during the press launch, categorized the HP G Series, which targets the mass market, as “good,” while the HP Pavilion, which caters to the professional market, as “better.” The HP Envy line, which is made for the premium market, is labeled by Sin as the “best.”

Measuring under 1.24-inch thin and starting from 2.2 kilos, the HP G42 features the latest Intel Core i3 and i5 processor technology, with up to 5.5 hours of battery life with an integrated six-cell battery. The HP G42 can also hold up to 500GB storage space for work, music, photos and other multimedia content to maximize consumers’ computing experience at work or at home.

Available in Biscotti with the latest HP Imprint finish, the HP G Series also comes with a full-sized, ergonomic pocket-style keyboard with flush touchpad, and 14.0 HD HP BrightView LED display for consumers to enjoy their multimedia content. It also uses LED panels, and has discreet graphics card and a choice of Windows 7 Basic or Windows 7 Premium.

HP netbooks have always been among the best-looking netbooks in the market and the redesigned HP Mini 210 lives up to that standard. The HP Mini 210 measures less than one-inch thin, weighs 1.26 kilos and offers all-day computing with an in-line six-cell battery that provides up to 10.75 hours of battery life.

Created for consumers who want to stay connected as they surf the Web, check e-mail, listen to music, and need access to friends, family or information while on the go, the HP Mini 210 includes built-in WLAN, webcam, microphone and a nearly full-sized, island-style keyboard. It comes in the color of charcoal.

The HP Mini 210 costs P24,490, while the G42 has a starting price of P37,990.

“These new HP notebooks and accessories deliver breakthrough technology, power and advanced styling to satisfy the most discerning user,” Mateo said.

To mark the debut of the HP G Series, Sin announced that HP is offering a free 30-minute repair service for HP customers with faulty batteries, adaptors, keyboards and DVD players.

Sin said HP covers the express repair of these parts and will automatically replace them with new ones if the repair would take more than 30 minutes.

The 30-minute period starts when the customer submits his item for diagnosis. For more information, contact HP or its dealers.
