Smart Gold offers Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 - plus free Unlisurf

MANILA, Philippines - Smart Communications Inc. has unveiled the perfect postpaid package for individuals who want the most advanced handset and the “unlimited” data plan that allows them to maximize the phone’s features.

Smart has partnered with global mobile brand Sony Ericsson to offer postpaid subscribers the Xperia X10 bundled with one-month free Unlisurf service, only from Smart Gold.

The Xperia X10, Sony Ericsson’s first and most advanced Android-powered smartphone to be made available in the Philippines, now comes free, and with one month of free unlimited mobile browsing feature at Smart Gold Plan 3500 for all new and existing Smart Gold subscribers.

Android is an operating system (OS) developed by Google for mobile devices such as cellphones, tablet computers, and netbooks.

The Android OS is specifically designed to allow a large community of developers to create applications, or apps, that extend and enhance the functionality and features of a device, such as the Xperia X10.

These apps are made available in the portal called the Android Market, and users of the Xperia X10, when connected to the Internet, have access to this collection of thousands of apps.

The Xperia X10 also features Sony Ericsson’s proprietary Timescape, which brings together into one “live” and flowing stream all the user’s different communications such as text messages, calls, e-mails, Facebook status updates and other news feeds, and Twitter tweets, among others.

Another important feature is the Mediascape, which brings together the user’s various media such as photos, videos, and music, among others, and connects them directly to online social networking sites.

“For their features to be maximized and to be truly useful, advanced, Internet-optimized devices such as the Xperia X10 must be powered by a wireless network that provides reliable nationwide, high-speed mobile coverage,” said Danilo Mojica, head of Smart’s Wireless Consumer Division.

With an Xperia X10 powered by Smart Gold, mobile users can have high-speed access to the Android Market to download apps.

They can take advantage of the connectivity offered by the Smart network to go online anytime, from wherever they are, and have the “real” Internet experience — post photos and videos, share their status, update their blogs, chat or send e-mails, and browse for news and other content — all via the Xperia X10.

Bundled with Smart’s Unlisurf service, Xperia X10 users will have access to this unlimited Internet service right in the palm of their hands, with no fear of incurring sky-high data charges on their monthly bill.

The free one-month Unlisurf is a limited offer. Upon activation of the Smart Gold postpaid plan, the subscriber simply has to register to enjoy the free service, by sending Unlisurf 1200 to 211.

Registration must be done within the day of activation. After the first month of subscription, subscribers can still enjoy the monthly Unlisurf package by paying for the package on top of the monthly service fee.

Another available package is Unlisurf 300, or seven days of unlimited mobile Internet for only P300. 

The free Xperia X10 at Smart Gold Plan 3500 is available at all Smart Wireless Centers nationwide.
