Neo unveils 3D-equipped flagship notebook

MANILA, Philippines - Neo has jumped right at the forefront of personal computing with the introduction of its first 3D gaming laptop, the NEO Elan L4300-3D.

Neo’s L4300-3D takes advantage of nVidia 3D Vision technology, which is a combination of an advanced Graphics Processor Unit (GPU), specialized 3D glasses, software, and a certified display, in order to deliver an immersive stereoscopic 3D experience on a notebook.

Neo’s new flagship, which has a retail price of P99,999, boasts Intel’s super-fast quad-core Core i7-740QM CPU with 6MB Intel Smart Cache at 1.73 GHz, Intel Hyper-Threading (up to eight threads), and Intel’s Turbo Boost (Max Turbo Frequency of 2.93 GHz).

Its memory is a formidable 4GB DDR3 (dual-channel 2 x 2GB module) RAM expandable up to 8GB (2 x 4GB module) while storage is a generous 500GB SATA hard drive.

The L4300-3D has a 15.6-inch high-definition (HD) 3D display with a wide-screen 16:9 aspect ratio, 1366 x 768 resolution, and a 120Hz refresh rate required for 3D.

Graphics smarts are via Microsoft DirectX 10.1-certified nVidia GeForce GTX 285M (which happens to be nVidia’s fastest mobile GPU) with 1GB DDR3 Video RAM, nVidia PhysX and CUDA Technology, 128 CUDA Cores, 576 Gigaflops, 1.5 GHz GPU clock, and 38 billion/sec texture fill rate.

Its optical disc drive (ODD) is no less than a BluRay Combo Drive which reads BluRay discs and reads/writes DVD and CD media.

That’s not all. Next-generation connectivity comes from USB 3.0, which is up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0. There are three USB 2.0 ports in addition to the USB 3.0 port plus HDMI, eSATA, IEEE 1394a (Firewire), DVI-I out, S/PDIF out, and RJ-45 (LAN).

The NEO Elan L4300-3D runs on a Windows 7 Home Premium Edition and has a one-year warranty. Other features include a Mobile Intel PM55 Express chipset, Wireless 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity. The device measures 374 x 263.5 x 42 mm and weighs 3.3 kg.

The nVidia 3D Vision Kit includes a pair of rechargeable Active Shutter glasses and one external infrared emitter. The nVidia 3D Vision is the most advanced 3D technology for PC’s currently available in the market. The 3D glasses offer best-in-class optics with adjustable nosepieces for highest comfort and styling that’s at par with most designer sunglasses.

With the Active Shutter Technology, the viewer gets a truly immersive experience of the 3D world because the left and right eye images are shown in alternating frames. And with the 120Hz refresh rate of the monitor, the viewer still sees a full 60Hz signal, comparable to the current refresh rate of most upscale LCD monitors.

The nVidia 3D Vision supports LCD displays with resolutions of 1680 x 1050 and 1920 x 1080. Other notable features include Wide Viewing Angle for 3D, which lets users move their heads vertically or horizontally within full viewing angle of the images displayed without compromising the 3D effect or experiencing ghosting or blurring that would affect gaming or movie watching.

For regular 2D operation, the images can still be enjoyed in full clarity due to the significantly reduced ghosting effects of fast moving objects that the 3D Vision PC’s 120Hz higher refresh rate supports.

Yet other 3D smarts are Automatic Detection and Dynamic 3D Adjustment. When the user launches a 3D game, the system automatically runs the game in 3D. The GeForce GPU that operates the 3D also allows the user to increase or decrease the 3D depth or toggle it on or off in real time.

3D Vision-Ready Content, built specifically using guidance from nVidia’s The-Way-It’s-Meant-To-Be-Played program ensures that games that carry the badge render menus, heads-up-displays, scenery, and cut scenes in flawless 3D.
